Meitu, a smartphone brand from China has launched Meitu V7 and Meitu V7 Tonino Lamborghini edition smartphones in its home country. Meitu is known for its selfie beautifying apps and selfie-focused smartphones. Last month, Meitu confirmed that Xiaomi had taken over its smartphone business. Xiaomi will be manufacturing forthcoming Meitu-branded devices. The newly-announced V7 and V7 Tonino Lamborghini edition that have been announced as the world’s first smartphones with triple front-facing cameras are the last devices built and sold by Meitu.
Meitu V7, V7 Tonino Lamborghini Specifications and Features
The Meitu V7 measures 176 x 74 x 10.55 and weighs 207 grams. It houses a 6.21-inch OLED display that features full HD+ resolution. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is at the helm of the device along with 8GB of RAM.
A 3,400mAh battery fuels the Meitu V7 smartphone. It runs Android 9 Pie. The Zeus Boost Engine by Meitu assists in accelerating the performance of 100+ popular apps and games.
The triple selfie camera setup of the Meitu V7 features a Sony IMX363 12-megapixel primary sensor, Sony IMX350 20-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and Sony IMX355 8-megapixel depth sensor. Meitu’s SAT lens module switching technology allows the phone to intelligently choose the best combination of lens for capturing optimised shots. The AI-based imaging algorithm lets Meitu V7 users capture brighter selfie shots in darker conditions. The leather back panel of the phone is fitted with a 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup that come with features like OIS, EIS and a pair of dual-LED flashes.
Apart from the triple camera setup, the other salient feature of the Meitu V7 is its unique design. Unlike other smartphones that feature super-slim bezels, the Meitu V7’s display is surrounded by thicker bezels on all four sides. The upper bezel has the triple selfie camera module while the bottom bezel features a fingerprint scanner-enabled capacitive button.
The standard edition Meitu V7 features embossed leather, four 18K gold-plated rivets and metal rivets placed below the company’s branding. The handset can be bought in colours like Cabernet Orange and Green Dream.
The limited-edition Meitu V7 Tonino Lamborghini model features a white leather rear and a red metallic frame. Like the Italian flag colors, the V7 Tonino Lamborghini version features green, white and red stitching. The glass panel of the dual camera module has a carbon fibre textured finish. A metallic “Tonino Lamborghini” and four 18K gold-plated rivets are decorated on the leather rear panel of the smartphone.

Apart from design, what sets apart the standard and limited edition variants of the Meitu V7 is that the former comes with 128GB of storage and the latter can be availed in 256GB and 512GB storage choices.
The 128GB Meitu V7 is priced at 4,799 Yuan (~Rs 48,884) whereas the 256GB and 512GB versions of the Meitu V7 Tonino Lamborghini Edition cost 8,888 Yuan (~Rs 90,535) and 10,888 Yuan (~Rs 1,10,908) respectively . The limited edition variants will be up for pre-orders from December 24th in China. The sales of the Meitu V7 models will begin on January 9th 2019. It is unlikely that the devices will be sold outside of China.
