Meizu 16s Pro with Snapdragon 855+ and triple cameras launched in China

Today, Meizu held a launch event in China to unveil the Meizu 16s Pro flagship phone that is powered by the latest Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform. It has arrived as the company’s first smartphone with triple rear cameras.

Meizu 16s Pro Specifications and Features

Meizu 16s Pro Green and Dreamy Unicorn

The Meizu 16s Pro measures 151.9 x 7.65 x 73.4mm and it weighs only 169 grams. It has a 6.2-inch S-AMOLED display that offers full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,232 pixels. Thanks to the ultra-thin top and bottom bezels, the Meizu 16s Pro offers a tall aspect ratio of 18.6:9 and a screen to body ratio of 91.53 percent. The Super mTouch in-display fingerprint scanner is available on the device and promises 25 percent faster biometric recognition than the Meizu 16s. Face unlock is also available. The other features related to the display of the Meizu 16s Pro are support for 103 percent NTSC and 96.1 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 430 nits of brightness, 160Hz sampling rate and DC dimming.

The Meizu 16s that was unveiled in April was powered by the Snapdragon 855, but the newly unveiled Meizu 16s Pro has Snapdragon 855+ onboard that offers faster performance. The phone comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM editions that feature 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage respectively.

The Meizu 16s Pro has a triple rear camera unit along with an LED flash on its back. The OIS-enabled 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture is its primary lens. It is accompanied by an f/2.4 Sony IMX350 20-megapixel telephoto lens and an f/2.2 Sony IMX481 16-megapixel superwide lens that is surrounded by a six-LED ring flash. A 20-megapixel selfie camera is placed on the front. The photography features offered by the Meizu 16s Pro include 4K video recording at 60fps, 480p slow-motion video shooting, smart night scene mode, portrait mode, HDR and scene recognition.

The Meizu 16s Pro boots Android 9 Pie OS with the latest Flyme UI. Meizu also unveiled its latest Flyme 8 UI at the launch, and the 16s Pro will be one of the first phones from the company to receive it. The handset has a 3,600mAh battery that supports 24W mCharge rapid charging technology. The handset is also equipped with dual linear speakers and an mEngine 3.0 linear motor. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 5.0 Bluetooth, dual-band GPS for accurate location tracking, NFC, Meizu Pay and USB Type-C. The 3.5mm headphone jack is missing.

Meizu 16s Pro Price and Release Date

The Meizu 16s Pro has arrived in three models – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage for 2,699 Yuan (~Rs 27,000), 8GB RAM + 128GB storage for 2,999 Yuan (~Rs 30,000) and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage for 3,299 Yuan (~Rs 33,000). The handset is now available for pre-order in China and it will be available for purchase from August 31st. It is available in Black Mirror, Vision Unicorn, Twilight Forest and White Story hues. The company did not share any details regarding the international release of the Meizu 16s Pro.
