Meizu 16T with 6.5-inch display and Snapdragon 855 launched: price, specifications

Chinese smartphone OEM Meizu has launched the Meizu 16T gaming-focused smartphone in China. The Meizu 16T is a Snapdragon 855 powered flagship device. Apart from its gaming capabilities, the phone offers with a large-sized display and a big battery with fast charging support. It has arrived as the cheapest SD855 chipset powered phone with a starting price of only RMB 1,999 (~Rs. 20,000).

The Meizu 16T follows the design trend of the Meizu 16s  and Meizu 16s Pro flagships that were unveiled earlier this year. It has a glass and metal chassis with slim bezels around the display. The handset measures 159.63 x 78.2 x 8.3mm and it weighs 183g. It is equipped with a massive 6.5-inch S-AMOLED display that delivers full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,232 pixels. The 18.6:9 display offers a 100000:1 contrast ratio, 430nits of brightness and DCI-P3 color gamut. Meizu claims that the Super mTouch in-display fingerprint sensor can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds.

The Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the Meizu 16T with Adreno 640 graphics. It comes with in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM editions and 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage options. Android 9 Pie with Flyme 7 UI runs on the device. Meizu 16T users will also get access to Flyme 8 in December. The Meizu 16T features a 4,500mAh battery, coupled with 18W rapid charging technology.

The Meizu 16T comes with a few gaming-focussed features like a linear vibration motor for in-game vibrations and dual stereo speakers for an enhanced audio experience. It also features Game Mode 4.0 that enhances the gameplay experience.

The rear-facing triple camera unit comprises of a Sony IMX362 12-megapixel lens with f/1.9 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture and 118-degree field-of-view, and an f/1.9 5-megapixel depth sensor. The triple cameras offer features like automatic HDR, AI scene recognition, super night scene mode, 2.5cm macro shots, 4K video recording at 60fps and 240fps slow-motion video recording. The 16-megapixel selfie camera offers f/2.2 aperture, automatic HDR, AI beauty and portrait mode. The company will be adding features like selfie super night scene and backlight mode for the front camera through an OTA upgrade.

The connectivity features include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS, USB-C and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is a face unlock feature which can unlock the smartphone in just 0.2 seconds.

Meizu 16T Price and Availability

The Meizu 16T is available in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM +128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants. They are priced at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 20,000), RMB 2,199 (~Rs 22,000) and RMB 2,499 (~Rs 25,000) respectively.

The first sale of the smartphone will be carried out in the home market on October 28th and it is now available for pre-orders. It can be purchased in colors like Whale Blue, Daylight Orange and Lake Green.
