Meizu 16X and Meizu X8 with Snapdragon 710 launched in China

The Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus flagship phones were unveiled last month. Now, Meizu has introduced the 16X as a new member in the Meizu 16 series. Alongside, the company also announced the Meizu X8, which features a notched display.

Meizu 16X Specifications and Features

The Meizu 16X sports a metal unibody design, and unlike most flagships these days, features a notch-less display. It houses a 6-inch AMOLED screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It produces a screen-to-body ratio of 90.62 percent. Underneath the display is the embedded fingerprint sensor that can unlock the phone in just 0.25 seconds, according to the brand.

Meizu 16X Gold

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. The handset features a Sony IMX380 12-megapixel + Sony IMX350 20-megapixel dual camera module and 20-megapixel front camera – the same setup as the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus.

The device is equipped with a 3,100mAh battery with support for mCharge fast charging on the device. The handset runs Flyme OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Meizu 16X Variants and Pricing

The base model of the Meizu 16X features an internal storage of 64 GB and 6 GB of RAM, and it carries a price tag of 2,098 Yuan (~Rs. 22,000). The other variant of the smartphone is packed with a native storage of 128 GB and 6 GB of RAM. It is priced at 2,398 Yuan (~Rs. 25,600).

Meizu 8X Blue

The Meizu 16X comes in three colors – Jet Black, Noble Gold and Ru White which carries a ceramic finish. It will be available for purchase in China from September 26th through the Meizu official store.

Meizu X8 Specifications and Features

The Meizu X8 is the first notched display smartphone from the company. It is equipped with a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen that offers full HD+ resolution, 18.7:9 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of 89.6 percent. The traditional mBack button is missing on the Meizu X8, but it carries support for Super mBack onscreen gestures.

The Snapdragon 710 is present under the hood of the Meizu X8. The 3,120mAh battery of the phone is enabled with mCharge rapid charging technology. The dual camera setup on the back panel of the phone includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor with f/1.9 aperture, assisted by a secondary 5-megapixel sensor. The 20-megapixel front-facing camera coupled with ArcSoft AI technology can capture enhanced selfie shots. The Android 8.1 Oreo OS customised with proprietary Flyme UI comes preinstalled on the Meizu X8.

Meizu 16X Variants and Pricing

The 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM variant of the Meizu X8 has a price tag of 1,598 Yuan (~Rs. 16,800). Its 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM model costs 1,798 Yuan (~Rs. 18,800) whereas the higher variant featuring 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM carries a pricing of 1,998 Yuan (~Rs. 21,000). The color variants of the Meizu X8 are Blue, Black and White. Its sales are scheduled to begin in China on October 15th.
