Notably, the brand teased the launch of the MEIZU 18 series with a poster that revealed the design and a few key specs. These include a centrally placed punch-hole camera, curved display, and in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, Geekbench listings have revealed the processor, Android version and RAM. Let’s take a look.
MEIZU 18 and 18 Pro spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 888 SoC
The Geekbench listing of both MEIZU 18 and 18 Pro reveal ‘Lahaina’ processor, which is the codename for the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. This is in contrast to the previous leaks, which suggested that the vanilla MEIZU 18 would come with the Snapdragon 870 SoC. It now seems that both models will be powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon process.
Other specs revealed by the listing include 12GB RAM and Android 11 operating system. We can expect the smartphones to come in more than one variant and Android 11 to feature the Flyme 9 UI on top. The MEIZU 18 Pro scores 542 and 2,755 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. Surprisingly, the vanilla MEIZU 18 is seen with a higher 1,124 single-core and 3,647 multi-core scores.
MEIZU 18 and 18 Pro specifications and features (expected)
MEIZU has confirmed that these flagship devices will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, thus confirming the presence of an AMOLED display. Past rumours have claimed that the 18 and 18 Pro will feature E4 AMOLED panels. Other display features include a curved design and a centred punch-hole cutout.
The flagships were spotted on CQC certification, revealing that the MEIZU 18 could feature a 3, 910mAh battery and the Pro variant will have a 4, 855mAh battery. The former is tipped to have support for 30W fast charging while the latter will have 40W quick charging as per the 3C certification. However, these will be the brand’s first flagships to ship without chargers.
While there’s no word on other specifications of the Pro variant, the standard model is rumoured to feature a 64MP + 12MP + 5MP rear camera setup, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage.
