Last week, Meizu CEO Huang Zhang had shed some light on the company’s upcoming gaming smartphone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. In a new post on Weibo, Meizu today teased the launch of a “world’s first” technology in China tomorrow.
Could Meizu Launch a Totally Bezel-Less Smartphone Tomorrow?
The hidden text in the Weibo post published by Meizu reveals a “holeless phone”. Additionally, the post also contains references to some sort of a non-porous body. This could mean Meizu is planning to launch a smartphone with no charging port or a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, the handset may only support wireless charging and bone conduction sound technology. Alternatively, Meizu could be planning to release a smartphone with a completely bezel-less design. While other manufacturers have launched smartphones with almost no bezels, we are yet to see a smartphone with a true 100% screen-to-body ratio.
Along with the “world’s first” technology, Meizu may also unveil its Snapdragon 855-powered gaming smartphone in China tomorrow. The gaming-focused smartphone is expected to sport a 6.2- or 6.5-inch sized display with nearly no bezels. It is expected to be quite impressive in terms of battery life as well, thanks to a 4000 to 4500mAh capacity battery under the hood. While the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile processor, it is not going to be a true flagship-grade device. In other areas, the 16T gaming smartphone may not be as impressive as the company’s flagship Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones. In addition to the Meizu 16T gaming smartphone, the company is also working on the Meizu 16s flagship smartphone. As confirmed by the company’s CEO recently, the Meizu 16s will be priced slightly higher than the current Meizu 16. The flagship smartphone is tipped to sport a 6.2-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC. It will also offer NFC support and wireless charging.
