Meizu, the Chinese OEM launched a device with dual displays earlier in July this year, dubbed as the Meizu Pro 7. The phone is finally on its way to the Indian market as well. Meizu India has hinted about the Pro 7’s launch in the coming days through suggestive graphic images. The highlight to this smartphone is its dual display setup; a primary screen on the front and a smaller display on the back.

The Chinese brand hasn’t launched devices in India for a while now and that is about to change with the upcoming Pro 7. Along with the it, the company may also launch the Meizu Pro 7 Plus. Both devices sport a similar metal build that feels robust and provides good grip. The phones do not flaunt the trending bezel-less display and hence the company has managed to squeeze the fingerprint sensor at the front, below the primary display. On the back is where the phones feature dual-camera setups and a smaller sized secondary display.
Speaking of displays, the Meizu Pro 7 features a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels on the front. Meanwhile, the Plus variant of the phone has a larger 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. On the rear side of both phones is a smaller 1.9-inch Super AMOLED secondary display having a resolution of 240×536 pixels. This display, according to Meizu can be used to display time, weather details and even prove useful for capturing selfies using the rear camera.
In terms of specifications, the Meizu Pro 7 is offered in two processor configurations viz. MediaTek Helio P25 and the other with an Helio X30 SoC both of which are coupled with 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the phone will ship in either a 64GB or a 128GB variant. On the other hand, the Pro 7 plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio X30 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. The internal storage on this device is similar to the Pro 7 at either 64 or 128GB.
In the optics department, both phones feature a dual-rear camera setup comprising of two 12-megapixel sensors, one being an RGB sensor and the other a monochrome. Up front, the phone features a 16-megapixel selfie camera capable of capturing images in vivid colours and also for video calling purposes. The Meizu Pro 7 draws its power from a 3000 mAh battery pack whereas the bigger sized Pro 7 Plus features a 3500 mAh battery unit. Both smartphones support the 5V/5A mCharge 4.0 fast charging technology, which according to the company is faster than OnePlus’ Dash Charge.
On the software side of things, the devices run Flyme 6 OS that’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat. There is no word from the company regarding if the devices will be updated to Android Oreo in the coming months. As for connectivity, the phone offers support for dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C connector for charging and data transferring purposes.
The Meizu Pro 7 is expected to launch for an asking price of under Rs. 30,000 whereas the Pro 7 Plus is expected to launch under Rs. 35,000. What are your views on this dual-screen smartphone? Do let us know in the comments section below.
