Yesterday, Xiaomi announced the Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite smartphones. On the very same day, Meizu also unwrapped four new smartphones – Meizu 16X, Meizu X8, Meizu V8 and V8 Pro. The 16X is an upper mid-range phone whereas the V8 duo have arrived with budget-friendly specs and pricing. Both the V8 and V8 Pro feature 18:9 aspect ratio displays and MediaTek chipsets, but there are some noticeable differences between the two phones.
Meizu V8 Specifications and Features
The Meizu V8 that features a polycarbonate chassis is fitted with a 5.7-inch 18:9 IPS LCD display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The MediaTek MT6739 is the heart of this device, which is fuelled by a 3,100mAh battery. The SoC is coupled with 3 GB of RAM. The V8 has an inbuilt storage of 32 GB and it also features a microSD card slot.
The Meizu V8 features a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and dual-LED flash. There is an f/1.9 aperture 5-megapixel camera at the front for capturing selfies. The handset is equipped with rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and also offers a face unlock feature. It is loaded with Flyme OS flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. Its connectivity features are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB.
Meizu V8 Pro Specifications and Features
The Meizu V8 Pro comes with a metallic chassis. It is also equipped with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution. The MediaTek Helio P22 SoC of the V8 Pro is assisted by 4 GB of RAM. The handset has an internal storage of 64 GB. For additional storage, it features a microSD card slot. The device features a slightly larger battery of 3,200mAh capacity.
The Meizu V8 Pro has 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup with f/2.2 apertures and dual-LED flash. A selfie snapper of 5-megapixel with f/1.9 aperture resides on the front of the phone. The other features of the V8 Pro include face unlock, rear-mounted fingerprint reader, microSD card slot, Flyme OS based Android 8.1 Oreo OS, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB.
Meizu V8 and V8 Pro Pricing and Availability
The Meizu V8 comes in colors like White and Black. It carries an affordable price tag of 799 Yuan (~Rs. 8,400) in China. The V8 Pro color variants include Gold and Black and it is priced at 1,098 Yuan (~Rs. 11,600). The pre-orders of V8 duo have started on multiple e-commerce platforms in China. These phones are slated to go on sale on September 26th.
