Today, Meizu has announced the all new Meizu Zero smartphone as the world’s first smartphone with a ‘holeless’ design. It is packed with some advanced features such as mScreen sound technology, 18W mSuper Charge wireless charging technology and a premium ceramic build that does not feature any physical buttons or ports.
Design and Display
The Meizu Zero features a 3D ceramic build with a unibody design. Instead of physical buttons for power and volume, the Meizu Zero phone features virtual buttons on the edges that are equipped with a pressure-sensitive mEngine 2.0 linear motor. It is an IP68 rated waterproof and dust resistant smartphone.
The Meizu Zero features a curved OLED screen measuring 5.99 inches. While the resolution is unspecified, it is likely to be a full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is embedded with an optical fingerprint scanner. There is no earpiece above the display of the phone. The Meizu Zero can emit sound through its display by means of the mSound 2.0 screen sound technology.
Performance and Camera
One of the innovative features of the Meizu Zero is that it features the company’s self-developed 18W superfast wireless charging technology which works like 18W wired fast charging. The Chinese manufacturer claimed that it filed 75 patents for over twp years to develop the mSuper Charge 2.0 technology. The exact capacity of the Meizu Zero’s battery is yet to be confirmed. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is the driving force of the Meizu Zero. It is assisted by an unspecified amount of LPDDR4X RAM.
The Meizu Zero borrows its front and rear cameras from the Meizu 16th smartphone. The top bezel of the Meizu Zero is home to the 20-megapixel selfie camera. On the rear, it features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX380 + 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 dual camera module coupled by Meizu’s trademark ring flash.
The smartphone carries support for Bluetooth 5.0 LE. To listen to the music, users can make use of wireless Bluetooth earphones. The phone runs Android 9 Pie flavoured with Flyme 7 UI. The Meizu Zero lacks a SIM card slot, but it features support for eSIM technology.
Release Date and Price
Meizu did not disclose the release date and pricing for the Meizu Zero. Initially, it will be exclusively available for purchase in China. It will be available colour choices like Black and White.
