Mercedes-Benz is now taking bookings for the EQS 580 4MATIC, touted as a “Made in India” luxury electric car, with a launch scheduled for September 30. This is a momentous occasion for the brand, given that this would be the company’s first luxury EV to be built/assembled in India.
The EQS 580 4MATIC will also be in contention for one of the fastest charging EVs in the country, with an estimated 300km of range achieved with a 15-minute quick charge. However, this will require a 200 kWh DC fast charger.
Mercedes-Benz will roll out the new EV from its plant in Chakan, Pune, on September 30, while the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is expected to be in attendance for the occasion.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC features
The EQS 580 4MATIC is being marketed as the world’s most aerodynamic production vehicle, as evidenced by a drag coefficient of 0.20 Cd. This EV has an overall length of 5216 mm while it is 1512 mm tall and 1926 mm wide.
In terms of performance, Mercedes-Benz’s new luxury EV can deliver 385 kW of power and 885 nm of torque. There’s also a 107.8 kWh battery pack, making this one of the longest-running EVs in the country with an estimated range of 500 km. Internally, the EQS 580 4MATIC gets the company’s flagship MBUX Hyperscreen, comprising a massive 56-inch curved display between the two A-pillars.

The EQS 580 4MATIC will be available starting from Rs 2.45 crore later this month. Customers who intend to pre-book the luxury EV can do so from their nearest Mercedes-Benz outlet by paying a booking fee of Rs 25 lakhs. Interested buyers can also pre-book the luxury EV online.
Speaking on the launch of the EQS 580 4MATIC, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Martin Schwenk said, “The EQS 580 4MATIC is Mercedes-Benz’s most futuristic ‘Made in India’ offering and promises to push the boundaries in design, technology, luxury, and safety.”
