MG4 EV launch has been launched. The company has conducted endurance tests of the car in Europe and released its official photos. The images give a good look at the exterior and interior design of the 5-door hatchback vehicle. The MG4 is the company’s first EV designed for the European markets.
One of the major features of the MGE EV is that it is based on the parent company’s (SAIC Motors) all-new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) architecture for battery-powered vehicles. The platform is designed to support a range of EV segments, from hatchbacks to SUVs.
MG4 EV design
The MG4 EV has a sporty design with pointy LED headlamps and aerodynamic lines on the front. The side windows are connected to the rear windscreen. Its rear side has a full-width light with some LED taillights. The MG4 EV has a fully digital dashboard with a floating infotainment touchscreen. It has a digital instrument cluster placed behind the two-spoke steering wheel.
MG4 EV specifications
The MG4 EV will be available in two battery pack options. The 51 kWh battery variant will come with a 125 kW motor, whereas the 64 kWh battery model will have a 150 kW motor. The company has claimed that the MG4 EV can deliver a range of up to 350 km or 450 km on the WLTP cycle.
The car can go from 0 to 100 mph in less than 8 seconds. It is capable of reaching a top speed of up to 106 kmph. It will come equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor.
“The MG4 EV is a key part of the next phase of growth for MG. Our new MSP architecture will enable us to offer multiple options for the rapidly expanding UK electric car market, with all choices reinforcing our reputation for outstanding design, market-leading technology, and excellent value for money,” said David Allison, MG Motor UK’s Head of Product and Planning.
MG4 EV price and release timeframe
The MG4 EV is set to go on sale in September this year in the UK. Its price is yet to be confirmed. The electric vehicle will be positioned lower than the MG5 electric state car. Hence, it is likely to be priced at around £25,000. The MG4 EV will be made available in the right-hand drive configuration in the UK.
