Earlier today, Xiaomi launched the new Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 budget smartphones in India. Alongside these two devices, the Chinese manufacturer also released its first smart lighting product for the country, the Mi LED Smart Bulb. This new Smart LED bulb will compete against smart products from Philips, Syska, Wipro and others. Xiaomi hasn’t yet revealed the pricing for the Mi LED Smart Bulb. It was demoed at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year.
Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb features
When it comes to features, the Mi LED Smart Bulb is quite similar to other smart bulbs available in the country. It offers support for up to 16 million colours and comes with an E27 mount. Most households in the country use the B22 mount, but that’s not a problem as you can use an adapter. The smart bulb also offers temperature control between 1700K to 6500K. It is a 10W bulb that can produce 800 lumens of light.
Like most other smart bulbs, the Mi LED Smart bulb can be controlled with the Mi Home app. You can adjust the colour, brightness and also set schedules for automatically turning the bulb on when you arrive home for work or after sunset. The bulb can be easily connected to your home Wi-Fi and does not require any special Hub. It will even work with Google Home and Amazon’s Alexa. You can simply speak to the smart assistant and turn on the bulb or change colours.
According to Xiaomi, the Mi LED Smart bulb can last up to 11 years, which is impressive. The design of the bulb is also quite different than the other smart bulbs in India. A plain White version of the bulb was also showcased during MWC 2019, but we are not sure if that will be sold here.
Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb price
The Indian pricing for the Mi LED Smart Bulb hasn’t been announced yet. Xiaomi is holding a crowdfunding on Mi.com at 12pm on April 26th, where it will unveil the price for the bulb. We expect it to cost around Rs 1,500 as the international variant is priced at €19.90.
[Update: April 26th]: The Mi LED Smart Bulb is now up for crowdfunding for Rs 999, with orders being shipped from May 20th. It’s worth noting that the Rs 999 price tag is only during crowdfunding, after which the MRP is listed at Rs 1,299.
