Xiaomi teases new product launch in India, Mi TV 5 Pro with QLED display expected

Xiaomi is all set to expand its television portfolio in India. The Chinese brand’s TV lineup consists of Mi TV 4A, Mi TV 4A Pro and Mi TV 4X. Now, the company has taken to Twitter to tease the company’s upcoming product which is expected to be the Mi TV 5 Pro.

The tweets mention ‘it’s the dawn of something new’ along with the hashtag #QuantumLeapsAhead. Separately, Xiaomi India shared a release with us which read ‘Let’s end 2020 with a bang, Mi India is enroute bringing the perfect amalgamation of design and premium technology.’ This hints that Xiaomi’s upcoming offering could debut in the coming weeks. 

Xiaomi hasn’t officially revealed what the upcoming device is nor any details about the launch date. But going by the teaser, it is expected that the brand will unveil the Mi TV 5 Pro series that had debuted in China last year. Xiaomi could enter the premium television segment with the Mi TV 5 Pro. Currently, the brand offers HD, FHD and 4K TVs in India. 

Mi TV 5 Pro Series specifications and pricing

The Mi TV 5 Pro series consists of a standard and Pro variant. Both are offered in three screen sizes of 55, 65 and 75-inches. The televisions flaunt a screw-less design with an aluminium build and bezel-less display. All three variants feature Quantum Dot QLED display panel with support for 8K video playback, HDR10+, MEMC motion compensation and 108 percent NTSC colour gamut. The TVs are equipped with 2 x 8W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS HD sound. 

The Mi TV 5 Pro series is powered by a quad-core Cortex A55 processor. The standard variant packs 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while the Pro model has 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. As usual, the televisions run on Xiaomi’s PatchWall user interface. Connectivity options on the TVs include WiFI, Bluetooth, Infrared, 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports and an Ethernet port. 

The Mi TV 5 starts at RMB 2,999 (~Rs 30,200) and goes up to RMB 7,999 (~Rs 80,700) for the higher variant. The Pro variant carries a starting price tag of RMB 3,699 (~Rs 37,300) and going up to RMB 9,999 (~Rs 1,00,900).
