Indian smartphone maker Micromax has launched a smartphone for people looking to spend long hours on their devices without worrying about charging it up – the Bharat 5 Pro. The phone will compete in the budget smartphones’ category bearing a price tag of Rs. 7,999.
Display and Design
The Bharat 5 Pro looks like a well-built device sporting a sturdy body. On the front, contrary to its closest rival, the Xiaomi Redmi 5, it doesn’t come with a bezel-less display. It features a 5.2-inch HD display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Below the display, the device is equipped with three capacitive keys to navigate through its interface. On the back, it features a textured design that should aid in improving the device’s grip.
Performance and Storage
Underneath its hood, the Bharat 5 Pro is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. Speaking of the device’s performance, it should be able to tackle daily usage apps, however, if you are looking to use it for heavy gaming, you may be disappointed. Owing to its onboard 3GB RAM, multitasking shouldn’t be a problem. In terms of storage, the phone will ship with 32GB of internal memory with the option to expand via a microSD card.
Camera and Software
In the camera department, the latest offering by Micromax is equipped with two camera setups located on either side of the phone. The primary camera located on the back features a 13 MP sensor. The camera is enhanced with software features like Beauty Mode and Bokeh effect. Up front, the selfie camera fits in an 83.3-degree wide-angle 5-megapixel lens setup. Similar to most smartphones that have come out recently, the Bharat 5 Pro will also allow users to unlock the device through facial recognition. On the software side of things, the Micromax Bharat 5 Pro will be powered by Android Nougat out of the box. We expect the phone to be updated to Android Oreo soon, but, there isn’t any official word from the company regarding it yet.
Battery and Connectivity
Lastly, the major highlight of the phone – its mammoth sized battery. The Bharat 5 Pro packs in a massive 5,000mAh battery. This can last the phone well over the day-and-half mark. If you are someone who consumes a lot of video content on the move, you must consider this phone. The brand has boasted a 21-day standby time with this phone’s battery. To add to this, the phone also allows for reverse charging. This means that you can use the phone as a power source to charge other devices that you may own. The phone also checks the right boxes when it comes to connectivity solutions. It sports a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. The phone is compatible with 4G Networks and below and you can make calls over VoLTE as well. Apart from that, you can connect to the internet via WiFi and send files over Bluetooth using this phone.
Micromax has announced just a single variant of this phone which will compete directly with the Redmi 5 2GB variant which also costs Rs. 7,999. Surprisingly, the availability of the phone has not been declared yet. We can expect the phone to show up with leading ecommerce websites and offline retailers soon. What are your thoughts?
