There was a time when Micromax was the leading smartphone maker in India. In fact, in 2014, Micromax even managed to become the number one mobile phone brand in the country, besting brands like Samsung and Motorola. The company’s claim to fame was its affordable Micromax Canvas series of smartphones, which came with sub-Rs 15,000 price tags.
Micromax has taken a backseat over the last couple of years, but is now working on making a comeback in the Indian smartphone market. With the anti-China sentiment only growing in India, we expect more local brands to launch devices soon.
