Micromax made a comeback in the Indian smartphone market recently with the launch of the Micromax In Note 1 and In 1B. Both these smartphones are budget offerings to take on the likes of Realme and Redmi smartphones in India. The Micromax In Note 1 comes with stock Android 10, the gaming-centric Helio G85 SoC, quad cameras, and a punch-hole display, among others.

The In Note 1 has 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage with prices starting from Rs 10,999. In India, the new launch will compete with the Realme Narzo 20 (review) and Redmi Note 9 (review). Let’s find out how the Micromax In Note 1 fares against the heavyweights in its price range.
Micromax In Note 1 vs Redmi Note 9 vs Realme Narzo 20: price in India
The Micromax In Note 1 has been launched in 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB variants in India. The base model is priced at Rs 10,999, whereas the top model will set you back by Rs 12,499. Micromax is offering the In Note 1 in green and white colour options. The smartphone can be purchased from the official Micromax website and Flipkart starting November 24th.
The Realme Narzo 20 is also being offered in the same configurations as the In Note 1. The Realme smartphone retails at Rs 10,499 and Rs 11,499, respectively for the 64GB and 128GB models. The Narzo 20 comes in Glory Silver and Victory Blue colours. It can be picked up from Realme.com, Flipkart and retail stores.
The Redmi Note 9 comes in more options – 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB. These variants are retailing at Rs 11,499, Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,499, respectively. Xiaomi also offers a plethora of colour options like Aqua Green, Arctic White, Pebble Grey, Scarlet Red and Shadow Black. The smartphone can be purchased from Amazon, Mi.com and Mi Home stores.

Micromax In Note 1 vs Redmi Note 9 vs Realme Narzo 20: display
The Micromax In Note 1 features a large 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole cutout. The screen comes with FHD+ screen resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. The Realme Narzo 20 ships with a smaller 6.5-inch screen bearing HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch. Lastly, the Redmi Note 9 is equipped with a 6.5-inch punch-hole display with FHD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer for protection.

Micromax In Note 1 vs Redmi Note 9 vs Realme Narzo 20: performance and software
Coming to the performance, all three smartphones are powered by the mid-range gaming-centric processor – MediaTek Helio G85. It’s a 12nm octa-core processor with Mali-G52 MC2 graphics and MediaTek’s HyperEngine Game Technology. While Micromax In Note 1 and Realme Narzo 20 come with 4GB RAM, the Redmi Note 9 comes with up to 6GB RAM. These smartphones also offer up to 128GB storage.
In the software department, all three smartphones boot Android 10 out of the box but the Micromax In Note 1 features stock Android, which gives it an edge over the other two. The Realme Narzo 20 and Redmi Note 9, on the other hand, feature Realme UI and MIUI 11 on top.

In terms of cameras, all three smartphones are equipped with a 48-megapixel primary camera on the back. The Micromax In Note 1 and Redmi Note 9 feature a quad-camera setup, whereas the Realme Narzo 20 has a triple camera module. The 48-megapixel primary unit on the In Note 1 is accompanied by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 2-megapixel depth sensor and 2-megapixel macro camera.
The Redmi Note 9 also has the same depth and macro cameras but with a higher-resolution 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Lastly, the Narzo 20 has a similar camera setup as Redmi Note 9 minus the depth sensor. The Micromax In Note 1, on the other hand, is a solid contender with an immersive display, high-resolution cameras, stock Android, gaming-centric processor and beefy battery with fast charging.
