Microsoft has announced two new Surface devices, the Surface Laptop Go and the second-generation Surface Pro X. The all-new Surface Laptop Go is a cheaper version of the Surface Laptop that features the latest 10th generation Intel-Core i5 processor.
The new Surface Pro X is a refreshed version of the original device that went official in India in May 2020. According to Microsoft, it is the thinnest Surface Pro model despite featuring a kickstand. The device is driven by two custom-made chipsets by Qualcomm called Microsoft SQ 1 and Microsoft SQ 2.
Surface Laptop Go specifications and features
The Surface Laptop Go is a compact device made out of a polycarbonate composite resin system with glass fibre and an aluminum lid. The device is fitted with a 12.4-inch touchscreen display that produces 1,536 x 1,024 pixels resolution. It is fueled by the Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor and Intel UHD Graphic. The base model comes with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. The higher variant has 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB / 256GB of SSD storage.
The Surface Laptop Go runs the S Mode version of Windows 10 Home. It has an HD webcam that is coupled with a pair of far-field microphones. Other features that are available on the Surface Laptop Go are Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, USB-A, Surface Connect port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Dolby Audio powered speakers.
Surface Pro X specifications and features
The 2nd generation Surface Pro X features a 13-inch touchscreen display with 2,880 x 1,920 pixels resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Apart from the SQ 1 chipset which is based on the Snapdragon 8cx, the Surface Pro X also features the SQ 2 processor that is based on the new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. These chipsets are equipped with Adreno 685 and Adreno 690 GPUs, respectively. The company claims that the laptop offers a battery life of 15 hours.
The Surface Pro X has 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and it comes in 256GB / 512GB of M.2 2230 SSD storage options. The device runs Windows 10 Home. It has a 5-megapixel webcam with full HD video support. The webcam is accompanied by a pair of far-field microphones. It also supports Windows Hello face recognition. There’s also a 10-megapixel camera present on the rear of the laptop supports up to 4K video recording.
The laptop features a pair of 2W speakers with Dolby Audio support. When it comes to connectivity, the notebook offers features like nano-SIM, e-SIM, Gigabit LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, 2 x USB Type-C ports, and a Surface Connect port. The Surface Pro X comes with the Surface Slim Pen and it is compatible with the Signature Keyboard that comes in colour options such as Platinum, Ice Blue, and Poppy Red.
Apart from launching the Surface Laptop Go and Surface Pro X, the Redmond-based firm also unveiled a couple of accessories such as Designer Compact Keyboard, Number Pad, 4K Wireless Display Adapter and Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse.
Surface Laptop Go and Surface Pro X price in India
Microsoft has not announced pricing or availability of the Surface Laptop Go for India. In the US, the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB editions of the Surface Laptop Go are priced at $549 (~Rs 40,300), $699 (~Rs 51,300), and $899 (~Rs 66,000), respectively. The device comes in three colours – Ice Blue, Sandstone and Platinum.
The updated Surface Pro X will be available in 128GB and 256GB options in India and these are priced at Rs 1,49,999 and Rs 1,78,999, respectively. The notebook comes in colours like Platinum and Black. The new Surface Pro X is available for pre-orders from today for commercial customers, and will be available to all users starting October 13th.
