Microsoft Surface Pro(2017) Now For Sale in India

If you are looking for the closest alternative to the Macbook, you have to consider the Microsoft Surface series of laptops. They offer good versatility and assured updates. Recently it was rumored that the fifth generation Surface Pro would make its way to India and today it officially has. The device will set you back Rs. 64,999 for the base variant. Let’s have a look at what this laptop has to offer.

To start off, the device features a very premium metallic build. In addition to that, it is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop. This allows you the flexibility to use it both as a tablet as well as a laptop.

Speaking about its display, the Surface Book Pro(2017) is fitted with a 12.3-inch display having a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. This brings its pixel density up to a crispy 267 PPI which is suitable for almost all type of visual content to be viewed on the laptop.

Underneath its hood, the device is powered by Intel’s seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors. You can choose between an Intel m3, Intel i5 or the maxed out Intel i7 processor. Make no mistake, all of the mentioned processors are top of the line and offer very high efficiency. As far as storage and RAM is concerned, the laptop comes in 3 variants – 4GB RAM + 128GB, 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage or the maxed out 16GB RAM + 512GB storage. All variants come with SSD storage, so you can expect blazing read/write and boot speeds.

Speaking about its peripherals, the laptop comes with a detachable keyboard which has a key travel of 1.3mm so it’s pretty clicky and convenient if you are someone who types a lot. In addition to that, you can also buy a Surface Pen, if you’re someone who looks to sketch or take written notes. The pen has around 4,000 pressure points and new inking capabilities that allow for accurate illustrations. The laptop also comes with an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a front facing 5-megapixel sensor on the front. The front-facing camera is located above the display and can be used for video calling and perhaps even selfies if you’re into that using a tablet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In terms of connectivity, the laptop offers compatibility with most norms including the conventional dual-band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, Full-size USB 3.0, microSD card reader, and a Mini DisplayPort. The laptop also comes with 1.6W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium coupled with stereo microphones as well. Microsoft has managed to keep the laptop pretty lightweight as well despite all that it packs at just under 800 grams!

The laptop will be available across leading e-commerce websites for Rs. 64,999 for the base variant, followed by the i5 variant costing Rs. 79,999 or Rs. Rs. 106,999 for the 4GB and 8GB RAM variants respectively. The maxed out i7 variants with 8GB and 16GB of RAM cost Rs. 133,999 and Rs. 182,999 respectively.
