Xiaomi begins MIUI 12 rollout in India: top features, list of supported devices and more

Xiaomi announced the MIUI 12 Android skin in April in China, and it was globally introduced in May. With MIUI 12, the company aim to improve the user experience with optimisations across the UI. Today, the company confirmed the MIUI 12 rollout schedule for its users in India.

The Redmi Note 7 series, Redmi Note 8 series, Redmi Note 9 series, and the Xiaomi Mi 10 are the first in line to receive the MIUI 12 update. For Mi 10 users, the MIUI 12 will bring along an exclusive feature called Magic Clone that can capture a subject up to four times at different intervals to appear in single photo or video.

The first batch of Xiaomi phones that will be receiving MIUI 12 starting this month are:

  1. Xiaomi Mi 10
  2. Redmi Note 9
  3. Redmi Note 9 Pro
  4. Redmi Note 8
  5. Redmi Note 8 Pro
  6. Redmi Note 7
  7. Redmi Note 7 Pro

As far as MIUI 12 for other Xiaomi phones are concerned, the company said that it will timely announcements for respective phones through its social channels.

MIUI 12 rollout for Xiaomi phones begins from this month in India

With system-wide animations and visualisations, the MIUI 12 brings smoother UI experience. It comes with native support for Dark Mode not only for system apps, but also for third-party apps. The App drawer in MUI 12 can arrange apps in different categories automatically.

In MIUI 12, users can remove sensitive information such as location and metadata before sending images to others. MIUI 12 also saves space and maintains privacy by providing an option to automatically delete a screenshot after sharing.

The enhanced ultra-battery saver mode can make the phone last for additional 5 hours at 5 percent battery power. Users can make use of the floating windows to minimise and maximise any window of an app.  Some of the other features that are available on the MIUI 12 include new icons, fonts, animations, new Control Center, navigation gestures, new live wallpapers of planetary bodies, cards feature for events in Calendar, a new weather app that can mimic the current climate in the UI, and more.
