Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has just announced the date for the much awaited MIUI 9 and a dual camera smartphone – Mi 5X. MIUI is a custom skin built on top of Android which you see in all of the Xiaomi smartphones. Just a day ago, Xiaomi released two screenshots of the upcoming MIUI 9 which showed us the UI’s new lockscreen and homescreen. Now, the company is gearing to unveil the new skin on 26th July along with the new smartphone Mi 5X in China.
What we saw in screenshots, the MIUI 9 will come with more cleaner looks and will ship with at least four new official themes. It will also probably come with ‘Quick Reply’ feature which even Xiaomi’s Nougat-powered devices have not received. The MIUI 9 will also include Split Screen functionality and a redesigned Lock Screen shortcut. It is also being said that the new UI will remove the rarely used features of MIUI 8. The MIUI 9 will be first unveiled in Chinese ROM format and global ROM will be followed in coming months.
Talking about the Xiaomi Mi 5X, it is being said to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, the phone will draw its power from an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset. For multitasking, the device will feature 4GB of RAM and will be the first device running MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
