At the launch event held today, Lenovo-owned subsidiary Motorola unveiled the Moto E5 Plus for the Indian market. The phone was announced for the global market in April 2018. The launch of E5 Plus was followed by its younger sibling the E5. The device carries the tagline ‘hello entertainment’ which is aimed at those who enjoy consuming entertainment content on their devices for longer periods without any interruptions. Let’s take a detailed look at the technical specifications and the features both the devices have to offer:
Motorola Moto E5 Plus :
Display & Design:
On the front, the Moto E5 Plus flaunts a 6-inch bezel-less IPS display and an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. The device comes with an improved design as compared to its previous generations. The back of the phone has a reflective wave pattern and an arched back that makes it look stylish. Moto has embedded the fingerprint sensor with its brand logo. The device will ship in Black and Fine Gold color variants.
Hardware & Camera:
In terms of hardware, the Moto E5 Plus houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core chipset clocking at 1.4GHz. It is coupled with 3GB RAM. The device offers 32GB internal memory with an option to expand up to 128GB via microSD card. In the optics department, the Moto E5 Plus comes with a 12MP rear sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. It is accompanied by LED flash and features laser autofocus and PDAF system for better pictures in low light conditions. An 8MP sensor is fitted on the front along with selfie flash that aids in clicking better selfies at night. The camera software offers professional modes to the user.
Battery & OS:
Battery is the main USP of Moto E5 Plus. The device draws its power from a mammoth 5,000 mAh battery unit that can easily last for 2 days on full charge. Motorola has bundled a 10W rapid charger in the box that will give you extra juice in few minutes. The Motorola E5 Plus runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box.
Motorola Moto E5 :
The Motorola E5 is the younger sibling of E5 Plus. It is a toned down variant of E5 Plus in few aspects. The device has a slightly smaller HD+ display measuring 5.7-inch and also comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. It packs 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. The storage is expandable up to 128GB via dedicated microSD card slot. On the camera front, the E5 features a 13MP rear and 5MP front snapper. Both the cameras are paired with LED flash for better shots in poorly lit environments. The device runs on a 4,000 mAh battery unit and comes with a bundled 10W rapid charger. The E5 ships with Android Oreo OS out of the box.

Pricing & Availability:
The Moto E5 Plus will be made available starting midnight tonight on Amazon India and Moto Hub located near you. While the Moto E5 will be available exclusively at Motorola’s offline Moto Hub retail stores. The Moto E5 Plus will retail at Rs 11,999 and the Moto E5 is priced at Rs 9,999.
Given the prices of these two devices, both the phones will receive stiff competition from Xiaomi, Honor, and among others in the already crowded budget price segment.
