Motorola launched its latest E-series device called the Moto E7 Plus in India today. The smartphone arrives as the successor to the Moto E6 Plus from last year. The latest launch features a stock Android interface, big battery, and a 48-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back as its highlights. Notably, it’s one of the very few devices in the market under Rs 10,000 offering a 48-megapixel camera.

The Moto E7 Plus has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 9,499. At this price point, the smartphone competes with the likes of recently launched Narzo 20A and Redmi 9. Let’s find out if the newest Motorola launch has what it takes to compete with the other two.

The Motorola Moto E7 Plus has arrived in India in a single configuration with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone is priced at Rs 9,499 and will be available on Flipkart starting 12pm on September 30th. The phone can be brought in Misty Blue and Twilight Orange colours.

The Redmi 9 is available in two configurations in India – 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. These variants are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 9,999, respectively. The smartphone is available from Amazon, mi.com, Mi Studio and offline retail partners. Xiaomi is offering Redmi 9 in Sporty Orange, Sky Blue and Carbon Black colours.

Lastly, the Realme Narzo 20A is also available in two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. The former is priced at Rs 8,499, whereas the latter will set you back by Rs 9,499.

In terms of display, all three smartphones are equipped with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio and waterdrop notch.

The Moto E7 Plus features a screen-to-body ratio of 86 percent, which is pretty impressive for a budget smartphone. However, the Redmi 9 and Realme Narzo 20A wins this round thanks to a slightly higher ratio of 89.8 percent.

The performance is where these three devices differ from each other. The Moto E7 Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 460 SoC, which is an 11nm octa-core processor. The Redmi 9 is equipped with an entry-level 12nm gaming processor from MediaTek – the Helio G35. Lastly, the Narzo 20A is fitted with a dated but more powerful Snapdragon 665 SoC and thus wins this round.

Coming to the software, all three phones boot Android 10 out of the box but while Moto E7 Plus has a stock interface, other two gets proprietary treatment from their respective makers. The Redmi 9 features MIUI 12 interface, whereas the Realme Narzo 20A has Realme UI.

This is the one aspect where the Moto E7 Plus wins by a landslide. The Moto E7 Plus and Redmi 9 are equipped with a dual-camera setup, whereas the Realme Narzo 20A has a triple-camera module. The Redmi 9 is equipped with a 13MP primary sensor accompanied by a 2MP depth unit. The Narzo 20A gets 12MP primary camera, 2MP BnW sensor and a 2MP retro lens.

The Moto E7 Plus is among the rare breed of smartphones which offer a 48MP primary camera under Rs 10,000 in India. The main lens is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor.

In the selfie department, the Moto E7 Plus and Narzo 20A are equipped with an 8MP shooter on the front. The Redmi 9 loses out here with a 5-megapixel camera.
