Moto G51 is scheduled to launch in India later this week. The smartphone had debuted in global markets last month. It is the successor to the Moto G50 that didn’t arrive in India.
The Indian variant of Moto G51 will be slightly different compared to its global counterpart. Ahead of the launch, e-commerce platform, Flipkart has put up a dedicated microsite of the upcoming smartphone. Read on to know what we know about the upcoming Moto G51 so far.
Moto G51: launch date in India
The Moto G51 is set to launch in India on December 10th, 12 noon, Friday. The brand will announce the smartphone’s pricing and availability on its Twitter handle. Additionally, Flipkart will also reveal the details on the smartphone’s microsite.

The Moto G51 carries a price tag of RMB 1,499 (~Rs 17,500) in China. We can expect the smartphone to be priced similarly in India.

The Moto G51 will go on sale soon after it is announced. The smartphone will be available for purchase from Flipkart like previous Motorola phones.

Display and design
The Moto G51 will sport a center-aligned punch-hole display measuring 6.8-inches and bearing an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Design-wise, the back panel houses a rectangular camera module and a Moto logo. The power and volume rocker buttons are located on the right side of the device. There is also a dedicated Google Assistant button. The smartphone is IP52 certified water-repellent. The Moto G51 will be offered in Indigo Blue and Bright Silver colour options.
The Moto G51 will feature a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 50MP main sensor with quad pixel technology. The other two sensors include an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8MP depth unit. The smartphone will also offer a dedicated macro vision mode.
Hardware and software
The Moto G51 is teased to be powered by a 5G compatible Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ processor. It will be the first smartphone in the country with the said chipset. The upcoming offering is confirmed to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 20W rapid charging.
On the software front, the Motorola G51 will run on a near-stock Android UI with an assured upgrade to Android 12 and two years of security upgrades. The device will feature Lenovo’s business-grade ThinkShield security for protection against cyber attacks.
The Moto G51 is confirmed to come with support for 12 global 5G bands. This will ensure that buyers will benefit from the upcoming cellular network regardless of whichever band is rolled out in the country. The Motorola G51 will feature dual-SIM connectivity and users can insert 5G SIM cards in both slots. It will also come with 4×4 MIMO support.
Moto G51: other specifications and features
Apart from the confirmed specifications, the Moto G51 is expected to come with a 13MP front-facing camera. It will reportedly come in two RAM and storage configurations i.e. 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. Going by the teasers, the smartphone will likely come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button.
