Motorola launches a new phone in its budget G series every year. Earlier in February, the Lenovo-owned company unveiled the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus. Today, at an event, Motorola launched the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play in India. These are budget offerings and will be positioned against other popular phones like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Realme 1 and a few others. Let’s know more about both of these phones.
Motorola Moto G6
The Moto G6 is a successor to the previously launched Moto G5S, it packs in improved specifications and slightly revamped design. To start with, the phone comes with a decently sized 5.7-inch display bearing a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The display’s aspect ratio is 18:9 but there are thick bezels on either end. To protect the display, there is a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 sheet on top.
There is a dual-rear camera setup fitted in the phone which comprises of a 13-megapixel sensor and another 5-megapixel sensor. Both the lenses have a f/1.8 aperture for better low-light clicks. You can record videos in up to Full HD resolution at 60 fps. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera accompanied by an LED selfie flash.
In terms of performance, the phone rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor which is an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz. It is further coupled with 3GB or 4GB variant of RAM depending upon the variant you choose. The 3GB version gets 32GB of internal storage whereas the 4GB version has 64GB storage. You can further expand the storage up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card. Motorola phones run on stock Android and this one is no exception, the G6 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
A 3000mAh battery unit powers the phone and it is complemented with Turbo Charge support. So you get a decent sized battery along with fast charging support. In terms of connectivity, it supports everything including 3G, 4G with VoLTE, WiFi and Bluetooth.
The Moto G6 starts at a price of Rs. 13,999 and is available exclusively on Amazon starting tonight i.e. 4th June midnight.
Motorola Moto G6 Play
The Moto G6 Play is a toned down variant of the Moto G6 and the lowest spec variant in the Moto G6 series. The phone rocks a 5.7-inch HD+ resolution display having a pixel density of about 282 PPI. This should be okay for day-to-day usage, however, if you are looking to watch high-resolution videos, it may not do proper justice. The phone does embrace the tall 18:9 aspect ratio and even comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 support to add to its durability.
The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor ticking at 1.4GHz. This isn’t the most powerful processor around but should be alright for daily tasks. That being said, it wouldn’t be great for heavy gaming but will be okay with lightweight games. The phone has been launched in two variants, viz. 3GB RAM with 32GB memory and 4GB RAM with 64GB memory.
For the shutterbugs, the phone offers a dual-rear camera setup comprising of a 13MP primary sensor having a f/1.8 aperture, coupled with a 5MP secondary sensor. The major highlight of the phone has to be its battery which measures at 4000mAh. This is large enough to last through an average day. In case you do run out of juice before the end of the day, the phone ships with a 15W Turbocharger as well. On the connectivity front, the phone features all the right options including 3G, 4G with VoLTE, WiFi and Bluetooth.
