Lenovo-owned Motorola has debuted four new smartphones under its G series lineup at a launch event in Brazil. The new G7 series is the successor to last year’s G6 lineup. It includes the Moto G7, G7 Plus, G7 Play, and G7 Power. The G7 Plus is the top-end model in the series. The other devices all vary slightly in terms of technical specifications.
Display & Design:
The G7 and G7 Plus feature the same 6.24-inch bezel-less display bearing a Full HD+ resolution. The G7 Power has a 6.2-inch HD+ display while the G7 Play packs a smaller 5.7-inch screen with HD+ resolution. The G7 and G7 Plus feature a dewdrop notch on the top, while the G7 Power and G7 Play come with a regular notch. Design-wise, all the models feature Motorola branding at the bottom chin of the device. The fingerprint scanner is embedded into the Motorola logo mounted on the rear, and face unlock is available on all the models as well.
Under the hood, the G7, G7 Power, and G7 Play are powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 632 chipset. The G7 packs 4GB RAM while the G7 Power and G7 Play come with 3GB and 2GB RAM respectively. In terms of storage, the G7 offers 64GB internal memory while the other two variants come with 32GB storage. All the three devices feature a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The G7 Plus houses a Snapdragon 636 SoC clocked at 1.8GHz. The device offers 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage (with microSD card support).
In the optics department, the G7 sports a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera sensor. The Plus model houses a higher 16MP+5MP dual camera module. The G7 Power has a 12MP snapper while the Play variant comes with a 13MP sensor. For selfies, the G7 Plus fitted with a 12MP front snapper with portrait mode. The other three devices feature an 8MP front shooter for selfies.
Battery & OS:
The Moto G7, G7 Plus, and G7 Play run on a 3,000mAh battery unit. The G7 Power is packed with a massive 5,000mAh battery. The G7 Plus features 27W TurboPower charging, while the G7 and G7 Power feature 15W TurboPower charging. The G7 Play relies on regular 5W charging. On the software front, the entire G7 series runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. They come with a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Pricing & Availability:
The Moto G7 bears a price tag of $299 (~Rs 21,300). The powerful G7 Plus will retail at EUR 299.99 (~ Rs 24,500). The G7 Power and Play are priced at $249 (~Rs 17,800) and $199 (~Rs 14,200) respectively.
Motorola hasn’t announced the pricing and release date of its new smartphones for the Indian market. All the four phones will go on sale in Brazil & Mexico starting today and will roll out globally from Mid-February. We will keep you updated on when the devices are expected to be launched in India.
