Last October, Lenovo-owned Motorola introduced its latest Moto G series smartphones called the Moto G8 Plus and Moto G8 Play. Its been three months since the launch of these devices, but still, there’s no sign of the Moto G8 and its big battery sibling Moto G8 Power yet. There have been multiple reports regarding the Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power. Now, the folks over at XDA Developers have managed to obtain the complete specifications of the upcoming Moto G series smartphones. Obtained from an unnamed trusted source, the specs sheet suggests that the Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power will share a handful of features.
Moto G8 specifications and features
As per the source, the Motorola will come with a punch-hole display and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which will be embedded in the Moto emblem at the back. The phone is tipped to have a 6.39-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,560 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the device is said to offer the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core chipset. Configuration-wise, the smartphone will come in multiple RAM and storage variants – 2GB / 3GB / 4GB and 32GB / 64GB. Software-wise, the Moto G8 will boot the vanilla version of Android 10 out of the box.
In the camera department, the Moto G8 will feature a triple camera setup at the rear, as per the report. The device will have a 16MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.7. The main sensor will be aided by an 8MP f/2.2 snapper with 118-degree viewing angle and a 2MP f/2.2 macro lens. For selfies, the device is said to feature an 8MP camera on the front with an aperture of f/2.0. Lastly, the source claims that the Moto G8 will be fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that will support 10W charging.
Moto G8 Power specifications and features
Talking about the Moto G8 Power, the phone is said to offer a 6.36-inch display bearing a resolution of 2,300 x 1,080 pixels. The handset is said to come in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. While the Moto G8 will offer a triple primary camera module, the Moto G8 Power model is said to offer a quad-camera setup on the back. The sensors are said to include a 16MP f/1.7 main lens, an 8MP f/2.2 wide-angle lens, an 8MP f/2.4 shooter, and a 2MP f/2.2 macro camera. This one is said to offer a 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera. The source has mentioned that the G8 Power will have a beefier 5,000mAh battery that will support 18W fast charging. The device’s other features like the processor, software, and design will be similar to the Moto G8, suggests the source.
While the company hasn’t officially announced it, we can expect the new Moto G series handsets to be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2020.
