In an event held in Mumbai today, Motorola has finally launched a new smartphone in India – Moto M. It comes with all new full metal body design and a fingerprint scanner on the back. The company has been teasing the smartphone on social media from the last couple of weeks which reads “Mesmerizing, Masterful, Majestic.”
As the name suggests, this is the first time company is going for an all metal smartphone. However, it has the same typical design of Moto phones with round edges and antenna bands on top and bottom. Also, Moto M comes with a fingerprint scanner located at the back which is just another unprecedented move from the company as all other Moto devices sports a fingerprint scanner on the front.
Moto M sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and 2.5D glass on top. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P15 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. This is the second smartphone from the company after Moto E3 Power to bear a MediaTek processor instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon.
The phone comes in two variants of 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB with a MicroSD card. It flaunts a 16-megapixel primary camera on the back with dual tone LED flash and PDAF support. On the front, it features an 8-megapixel secondary camera for capturing selfies. The Moto M packs in a 3050mAH battery with Turbo Charging support.
The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box which is little disappointing as users have to wait for the OTA updates to get Android Nougat. The phone is also water and dust resistant and comes with Dolby Audio support. It is a dual-SIM phone but it comes with a hybrid slot which means you have to choose between a SIM or a microSD card for the second SIM slot. The Moto M is available only in one colour i.e Gold.
The 32GB variant is priced at Rs 15,999 whereas the 64GB variant is priced at Rs 17,999 and will be available on Flipkart starting from tomorrow midnight. Flipkart is also offering flat Rs 1000 off with Citi Credit cards and additionally up to Rs 2000 off on exchange offer. You could also get Rs 1000 off on the Moto Pulse 2 headset if you buy it along with the Moto M.
