Moto X4 marks the revival of the ‘X’ series of smartphones by Motorola. The last phone in the series was launched back in December 2015 and fast forwarding to September this year, we saw the launch of X4. Today i.e. 13th November, the company launched the Moto X4 in India at a starting price of Rs. 20,999. At this budget segment, Motorola aims to fill the existing void by providing a device that is high on specifications and value for money. Let’s take a look at its tech specifications and features.
Design & Display
The Moto X4 has got a premium built as it comes with a metal unibody and a metallic finish on top of it. The dual camera setup on the back differentiates itself in terms of design as it is covered in a ring pattern. The home button on the front acts as a fingerprint sensor too. The smartphone will be available in two different colours: Super Black and Sterling Blue.
The Moto X4 rocks a 5.2-inch Full HD display that comes with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. For protection, it fits Corning Gorilla Glass on top of the LTPS IPS panel.
In terms of camera specifications, the Moto X4 rocks a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel and another 8-megapixel sensor. The former has an f/2.0 aperture whereas the latter is a wide-angle lens capable of 120-degree field of view. The dual lens setup helps the phone in clicking better pictures and allows more functionalities. The rear camera is accompanied with a dual-LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus).
On the front side, there’s a 16-megapixel selfie camera which is coupled with a flash and has an f/2.0 aperture. These specifications ensure that no matter the light conditions, selfie picture quality is never compromised.
Performance & Battery
The X series smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor which is clocked at 2.2GhZ. The X4 comes in two different variants in terms of RAM and storage. A 3GB RAM/32GB storage model and another 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant. The internal storage can also be expanded externally via a microSD card slot up to 2TB.
There’s a 3000mAh non-removable battery powering the phone. It also comes with TurboCharge technology which promises to provide up to 6 hours of power in just 15 minutes.
Software and Connectivity
On the software front, the Moto X4 comes with Android 7.1.2 Nougat which might be upgraded to 8.0 Oreo soon since it runs stock Android. The phone also benefits from being IP68 certified which allows it to be water and dust resistant. All the Moto Experiences gestures are supported in the phone. But it misses out on supporting Moto Mods which has been included in most of Motorola’s phones launched in the recent past.
In terms of connectivity, the X4 has got a USB Type-C port, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP, aptX, EDR support, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and dual-SIM slots.
Pricing and Availability
The Moto X4 is available at a price of Rs. 20,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 22,999 for the 4GB RAM model. The phone will be exclusively available with Flipkart and the first sale is scheduled for 11:59PM tonight i.e. November 13th.
