Moto X40 specifications have been leaked through its appearance in the database of China’s TENAA authority. Apart from bagging approval from TENAA, the handset has also been certified by the country’s 3C authority.
The Moto X40 will be arriving as a successor to the Moto Edge X30, which was announced in December 2021 in China as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone. Hence, the X40 could be one of the first smartphones to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 onboard. With TENAA and 3C certifications under its belt, it appears that the X40 may break cover towards the end of this month or in December.
Moto X40 specifications (rumoured)
The Motorola phone with the XT2031-5 model number that has surfaced in the database of Chinese certification platforms is expected to debut as the Moto X40. The TENAA listing of the device reveals that it has a 6.67-inch OLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 10-bit colours. As far as the display is concerned, the images of the phone that have surfaced on TENAA reveal that it has a punch-hole screen with curved edges. The X40 is equipped with an under-display fingerprint scanner.
The Moto X40 is powered by a 3.0GHz octa-core processor and 8GB / 12GB / 18GB of RAM. Lenovo China’s General Manager for Mobile Division, Chen Jin, has already confirmed that the device will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and LPDDR5x RAM. The device will offer users 128GB / 256GB / 512GB of storage.
When it comes to photography, the Moto X40 features a 50-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 12-megapixel triple camera unit. On the front, it features a 60-megapixel selfie camera. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery. As per the 3C certification of the device, it will have support for 68W fast charging. At present, there is no word on the price of the X40.
Moto X40 to be rebranded as Edge-series phone globally
The Moto Edge X30 was rebranded as the Motorola Edge 30 Pro in markets outside of China. Hence, it is speculated that the X40 may arrive with the Motorola Edge 40 Pro name in the global market, including India.
