In an event held in Mumbai today, Lenovo owned brand Motorola has launched the Moto Z2 Play. Successor to Moto Z Play launched in October last year, the Z2 Play carries a price tag of Rs 27,999. The device is available for pre-order starting today. Additionally, Motorola also has few offers for those who pre-book the device till 14th of June. These offers include 50% discount on Moto Mods, Free Armor Pack, and 100GB additional Jio 4G data. The phone is available through offline retail stores across the nation. For those who prefer online channel, it is available exclusively on Flipkart.
The Moto Z2 Play is one of the first smartphones to be launched in India with Snapdragon 626 chipset. The Snapdragon 626 is the successor to very famous SD625 known for its power efficiency. Earlier, the Moto Z Play was also among the first ones to be powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset. Later, which was followed by Lenovo P2, Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and many other. Looking at the past records, we’re expecting the Moto Z2 Play to offer a generous battery life. The phone is also touted to score 15% better benchmarks than its predecessor.
Design wise, the Moto Z2 Play gets an aluminium unibody design with a thickness of just 5.9mm. The company claims it to be 15% thinner and 12% lighter than its predecessor. The handset also gets hydrophobic coating making it a water resistant device. It sports 5.5 inches Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display also gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top making it scratch and damage resistant.
For photography, the Z2 Play mounts a 12-megpaixel rear camera with dual autofocus including PDAF and laser. The camera has a f/1.7 aperture which captures 25% more light than its predecessor. Up front, it flaunts a 5-megapixel snapper for video calling and selfies. The phone also sports flash on either side of the body. It comes in two colour options – Lunar Grey with black front and Fine Gold with a white front. The phone also puts on a front mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button. You can now use the home button for quicker one hand navigation by swiping on it. The device packs in a 3000mAh battery and runs Android Nougat.
Similar to its predecessor, the Z2 Play also features Moto Experiences which include features such as Moto Display, Quick Reply, Quick Action, Show Me, and Moto Voice. Moto Display shows you notifications by just waving your hand over the display Quick Reply lets you reply to those notifications via text or voice without unlocking the display. Moto Voice allows you to make a voice command without touching the phone and the Show Me feature can show you weather, next appointment, calendar by just saying “show me” following the command.
The Moto Z2 Play also supports Moto Mods, similar to its predecessor. It is compatible with all the earlier released Mods as well some new Mods which Motorola has announced today. These are JBL Sound Boost 2, Turbo Power Mod with 3940mAh capacity and it also supports 3x faster charging.
The company has also introduced Power Packs with a new thinner design and Style Shell Mods for wireless charging. Motorola has also introduced GamePad Mod keeping gamers in mind and it also includes 1000mAh capacity battery.
