Motorola has officially teased the launch of a 200MP camera smartphone in July. The brand has also confirmed the existence of the recently announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powered phone. It’s likely that the upcoming smartphone could come with both specifications.
Motorola took to Weibo to share the announcements. The Lenovo-owned brand is yet to reveal the launch date as well as the upcoming smartphone’s exact name. However, it is expected to be the long-rumoured Motorola Frontier.
Motorola phone with 200MP camera and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 confirmed
In a Weibo post, Motorola is touting the 200MP camera sensor as a ‘new benchmark for image experience’. Based on past reports, Motorola is expected to use a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor for the primary camera. It is said to output 12.5MP or 50MP stills via pixel binning and deep learning algorithm. The sensor also supports 8K video recording at 30 fps. The Lenovo-owned brand says that the new camera will offer a great photography experience and can be seen as a big leap forward from the current 108MP lens.
Another teaser post confirms that the upcoming Motorola phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. It is expected to be the same device with a 200MP camera sensor.
The leaked specifications of the Motorola Frontier suggest that the device could come with a curved 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and support for a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The phone will be paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It is expected to be backed by a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 125W charging speed.
