Motorola Edge 20 series launch date has been confirmed for India. Motorola will be announcing the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion 5G-ready phones at 12pm on August 17th in India. The microsites of both smartphones are now live on Flipkart. Both listings have revealed their key specifications and features.
The Motorola Edge 20 is an upper mid-range phone powered by the Snapdragon 7-series chipset. On the other side, the Edge 20 Fusion is a rebranded version of the Edge 20 Lite that recently debuted in global markets. Our exclusive report recently revealed that Edge 20 Fusion will be arriving with the Dimensity 800U instead of the Dimensity 720 found on the Edge 20 Lite.
Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion key features
The Edge 20’s microsite on Flipkart states that it will be India’s slimmest 5G smartphone as it measures only 6.99mm in thickness. The smartphone will feature an AMOLED display that supports HDR10+, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 576Hz touch sampling rate. It will be India’s first Snapdragon 778G SoC-powered phone that will come with support for 11 5G bands.
The “Ready For” feature of the Edge 20 will allow users to connect the phone to a larger display wirelessly for various purposes like gaming, video conferencing, entertainment, and mobile desktop experience. It will be sporting a 108-megapixel triple camera unit for photography. It will run a near-stock version of Android 11, and it will come with ThinkShield business-grade hardware and software security features.
On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion’s Flipkart landing page reveals that it has a 108-megapixel triple camera unit, a 90Hz 10-bit AMOLED display, support for 13 5G bands, and the Ready For function.
Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Fusion specifications and features
The Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion debuted in global markets in July. Hence, all their specifications and features are already known. As far as the Indian variant of the Edge 20 Fusion is concerned, apart from featuring a new chip, the rest of its specs will be the same as its global version.
The Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion features a 6.7-inch AMOLED punch-hole screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution. The Edge 20 has an in-display fingerprint scanner, whereas the Fusion gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both phones have a 32-megapixel front camera.
The rear camera setup of the Edge 20 features a 108-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera that can also work as a macro camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS support. On the other hand, the Edge 20 Fusion has a 108-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide + macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Snapdragon 778G chip powers the Edge 20 with 8GB of RAM, 128GB / 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery that supports 30W TurboCharge technology. On the other side, the Edge 20 Fusion offers Dimensity 800U, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 30W TurboCharge support.
