Original story follows:
The Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, and Edge 20 Lite have launched in Europe. The Lite model is a mid-range device powered by the Dimensity 720 chip and the Edge 20 is a more premium smartphone driven by the Snapdragon 778G SoC. On the other hand, the Edge 20 Pro is a flagship phone that features the Snapdragon 870 SoC.
The Edge 20 series are equipped with up to 144Hz refresh rate displays. These phones are fitted with a 108-megapixel triple cameras for photography. The Edge 20 trio is packed with large-sized batteries that carry support for 30W fast charging.
Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, Edge 20 Lite specifications and features
The Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20, and Edge 20 Lite are all fitted with a 6.7-inch flat OLED panel with a punch-hole design. The displays offer Full HD+ resolution, 10-bit colour, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and HDR10+ support. The Edge 20 Lite supports a 90Hz refresh rate, whereas the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro offer a 144Hz refresh rate. While the Lite model has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, the two other models feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The Edge 20 features the Snapdragon 778G chipset, 6GB / 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. The Edge 20 Pro offers Snapdragon 870, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. The Edge 20 Lite comes with Dimensity 720 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of native storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. All three phones carry support for the company’s 30W TurboPower fast charging technology.
The Edge 20 series are fitted with a 32-megapixel camera on the front for video calls and selfies. The Edge 20 Pro’s triple camera unit has a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that supports 5x optical zoom and up to 50x digital zoom.
The Edge 20 has the same triple camera unit, but it swaps the periscope lens with an 8-megapixel telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom. The Edge 20 Lite’s triple camera unit has the same 108-megapixel camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide snapper and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Edge 20 trio run My UX based on Android 11. The Ready for PC interface available on all three phones offers a conventional desktop-like PC experience when connected to an external display. Despite offering a near stock Android experience, Motorola will be offering only one major Android OS update and only two years of software support. Motorola claims that most users do not hold on to their smartphones for more than two years. The decision has come as a surprise when brands like Samsung and OnePlus have raised the bar for a better mobile experience by offering three years of OS upgrades. In addition, Google suggests smartphone OEMs should provide users OS upgrades for at least two years.
