Exclusive: Motorola Edge spotted in new live image, 64MP triple cameras confirmed

Yesterday, Lenovo-owned Motorola announced that its flagship would be launched at an event on April 22nd. The invite hinted that the devices in question would be the rumoured Motorola Edge series, comprising of the Motorola Edge and Edge+. The latter has been leaked several times already – we published exclusive CAD-based renders of the phone in partnership OnLeaks last month, and tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) posted an official looking render of the device soon after. The cheaper Motorola Edge then appeared in leaked images (courtesy of XDA Developers), along with its spec sheet. We have now obtained a new live image of the Motorola Edge via tipster Ishan Agarwal, which gives us a glimpse of its back panel.

Motorola Edge live image reveals triple rear cameras

The Motorola Edge will feature a 64MP triple rear camera setup

As you can see in the image, the Motorola Edge will feature a design that’s similar to the Edge+. It features a glossy burgundy red finish, which we previously saw on the leaked render of the Edge+. The top left corner of the back panel is home to a triple camera setup arranged vertically. Within the module, sitting just below the cameras, are the laser autofocus sensors. The inscription just to the right of the camera module reads “64MP | 16MP + 8MP AI CAMERA”. Notably, the Edge+ is also speculated to feature the same camera arrangement, barring the primary camera which will be a 108MP unit. Apart from the camera module, the back panel is also home to a dual-LED flash and signature Motorola dimple. The power button and volume rocker are also visible, located on the right spine.

Motorola Edge specifications and features

As per the previous report by XDA Developers, the Motorola Edge will feature a 6.67-inch curved waterfall display with full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 765 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The phone features a punch-hole cutout on the screen, which is home to a 25MP selfie camera. There’s a beefy 4,500mAh battery under the hood, but no wireless charging is available. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, Android 10, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC.
