The Motorola Edge+ is the upcoming Snapdragon 865 mobile platform flagship phone from the Lenovo-owned brand. XDA Developers had earlier claimed the device will also be launched in a Snapdragon 765 edition. A new report from the publication reveals that the device will be heading to the market as the Motorola Edge. The key specifications of the smartphone and live images have also been shared. The new leak reveals that the smartphone will be sporting a “waterfall display” like the Motorola Edge+ smartphone. The rear side of the phone features a 64-megapixel quad camera setup.
Motorola Edge specifications and features
The Motorola Edge has an AMOLED display with a punch-hole at its upper-left corner. The size of the display is 6.67-inches and it has extremely curved edges. The display supports full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and carries support for up to a 90Hz refresh rate. The report states that the Settings screen of the phone has an “auto” mode option which allows the phone to rely on AI to switch between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates automatically. The display is embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
The rear shell of the phone has a vertical camera system which comprises of a 64-megapixel main lens, a 16-megapixel wide-angle shooter and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The rear cameras will come with features like 4-in-1 pixel binning technology, laser autofocus and dual LED flash. The punch-hole present on the screen houses a 25-megapixel selfie camera.
The Snapdragon 765 chipset that includes X52 5G modem powers the device. However, there is no confirmation on whether it will arrive with 5G capabilities. The SoC is coupled with 6GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 128GB.
The Motorola Edge is backed by a 4,500mAh battery. The report did not specify fast charging capabilities of the phone. The upper mid-range phone will lack support for wireless connectivity.
The phone will run Android 10. The device has a hybrid SIM slot for adding a microSD card. There are stereo speakers on the phone, with one placed on the top bezel and another on the bottom. Even though the phone has a waterfall display, it features a volume rocker and a power key on its right edge. The other features that sum up the Motorola Edge include NFC, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack.
Motorola Edge pricing and availability
There is no word on the pricing of the Motorola Edge. As far as availability of the phone is concerned, it is expected to go official in the coming days. The Lenovo-owned company is yet to confirm the existence of the Motorola Edge series.
