Lenovo-owned Motorola re-entered the flagship segment with the launch of Motorola Edge and Edge+ smartphones last month. However, at that time, the brand didn’t announce pricing and availability details for the Indian market. Both devices were both tipped to launch in India soon, however the coronavirus lockdown presumably caused a delay in plans.
Now, Flipkart has revealed that the Motorola Edge+ will be launched in the country on May 19th at 12pm. The landing page on Flipkart suggests that it will be available exclusively on the e-commerce website. However, the page only lists the Edge+, and doesn’t reveal if the standard Motorola Edge will also debut in India on the same date.
Motorola Edge+ specifications and features
The India variant of Motorola Edge+ is expected to retain all the specifications from its global counterpart. The smartphone sports a waterfall-style Endless Edge display measuring 6.7-inches. There is a punch-hole cutout for the front camera at the top left corner. The device features a full HD+ screen, a 90Hz refresh rate panel, HDR10+ and an in-display fingerprint scanner. There is a vertical triple camera setup on the back comprising a 108MP primary sensor, 8MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide shooter. The ultra-wide camera also doubles up as a macro lens and a ToF sensor. In the front, the smartphone features a 25MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge+ houses the Snapdragon 865 processor with an integrated X55 modem for 5G connectivity. The chipset is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The smartphone is backed by a mammoth 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 15W wired charging, as well as wireless charging. The device features Wireless PowerShare that is capable of wirelessly charging other compatible accessories and smartphones. Software-wise, the Motorola Edge+ runs stock Android 10 out of the box.
Motorola Edge+ pricing and availability
The Motorola Edge+ is available in Thunder Grey and Smoky Sangria colours. It carries a price tag of $999 (~Rs 76,000). We expect the smartphone to be priced similarly or slightly lower in India.
