Soon after the launch of the Snapdragon 870 processor, Motorola announced its upcoming device with the same chipset. Today the Lenovo owned brand has launched the Motorola Edge S in the China market. Prior to launch, the company had teased a few details of the device.

Motorola Edge S specifications and features
The Motorola Edge S sports a 6.7-inch LCD display bearing an FHD+ resolution and dual punch-hole camera cutout. It offers a 90Hz refresh rate screen and comes with HDR10. Design-wise, the smartphone flaunts a gradient back panel housing a square-shaped camera module. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.
In the photography department, the Motorola Edge S features a quad-camera setup comprising a 64MP CMOS main sensor, 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth shooter and a ToF lens. In the front, the device has a 16MP + 8MP selfie snappers. The smartphone supports up to 6K video recording at 30fps.
Internally, the Motorola Edge S is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 870 5G processor with an integrated X55 5G modem. The SoC is paired with up to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with 20W fast charging support. On the software front, the device runs Android 11. It comes with Multi-Screen Collaboration feature that is capable of projecting smartphone content to a bigger display.
Connectivity-wise, the Motorola Edge S ships with 5G, 4G, 3G networks as well as USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, WiFi 6, Bluetooth and dual GPS.
Motorola Edge S pricing and availability
The Motorola Edge S is priced at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 22,500) for the base variant i.e. 6GB + 128GB. The 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB configurations carry a price tag of RMB 2,399 (~Rs 27,000) and RMB 2,799 (~Rs 31,500) respectively. It is offered in an Emerald Light colour. There’s no word if the smartphone will make its way to India.
