Motorola has confirmed its presence at the MWC 2020 tech show. The firm has sent out invites for its press event that will be held a day prior to MWC, which is scheduled between February 24th and February 27th. Motorola has confirmed that will be unveiling a flagship phone at the event.
Motorola will be holding its pre-MWC event on February 23rd at 7pm. The last time Motorola had launched a flagship phone was back in July, when it had announced the Snapdragon 835 powered Moto Z2 Force. Last year in December, Motorola confirmed that it would be releasing a flagship and mid-range phone powered by the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 mobile platforms, respectively. Hence, it appears that the new flagship phone arriving at MWC 2020 could be driven by the Snapdragon 865 SoC. However, there is no confirmation on whether it will be a Z-series device. The Snapdragon 865 is a 5G capable chipset. Therefore it’s possible that the upcoming device will come with native 5G support.
Speaking of 5G, the Lenovo-owned firm had recently showcased a 5G version of the Motorola Razr foldable phone. The original Motorola Razr that was announced in November was a 4G device powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC. There is no confirmation on the processor that drives the Motorola Razr 5G. As mentioned above, the company had confirmed that it will be launching a Snapdragon 765 phone this year. The mid-range SoC is integrated with a 5G chipset. It is advisable to wait for further reports on whether the Motorola Razr 5G will be featuring the Snapdragon 765 or a different processor, which could be MediaTek’s Dimensity or even an Exynos 980 5G chipset from Samsung.
Recent reports have revealed Motorola is working on a stylus-toting phone, a phone named Motorola Edge+, the Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power smartphones. There is no confirmation on whether Motorola will be announcing any of these devices at MWC 2020, but it seems likely they will be showcased.
