Motorola is reportedly working on a new flagship smartphone codenamed “Nio”. After focusing on the mid-range market for 2 years, Motorola returned to the flagship market with the launch of the Motorola Edge+ smartphone earlier this year. The Snapdragon 865 powered smartphone came with some impressive specs like a 90Hz OLED panel with curved edges, 108-megapixel triple cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery. German publication Technik News has revealed details of Motorola’s next flagship phone.
Apart from the codename, the publication has also revealed key specifications of the Motorola Nio. The smartphone is expected to arrive with a high refresh rate display, Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, dual selfie cameras, and more.
Motorola Nio specifications (Rumoured)
According to the publication, the Nio will not be arriving as the successor to the Motorola Edge+ since both phones are driven by the same SD865 SoC. It will be one of the first phones from the brand to come preinstalled with the latest Android 11 OS. The Motorola Nio is likely to arrive with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is unclear whether Motorola will offer models featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage.
The display of the Motorola Nio is tipped to support a refresh rate of 90Hz with Full HD+ resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and a tall aspect ratio of 21:9. Unfortunately, the size and design of the display are under wraps. It appears that the screen will have a punch-hole cutout for the dual selfie camera system. It is expected to arrive with a 16-megapixel OV16A1Q main selfie camera and an 8-megapixel Samsung S5K4H7 secondary shooter.
The rear camera configurations suggest that the Nio could be positioned lower than the Edge+ in the market. Nio’s rear-mounted camera system is expected to include a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B primary camera, a 16-megapixel OV16A10 ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel OV02B1B depth assist sensor.
Motorola Nio launch date (Rumoured)
The final product name of the Motorola Nio is not known yet. The report reveals that its model number is XT2125 and is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2021.
