The Lenovo-owned brand, Motorola recently launched its newest mid-range offering in India. The Motorola One Fusion Plus comes in as part of the Android One powered series called Motorola One. The smartphone is the only other handset in Motorola’s portfolio to feature a pop-up selfie camera after the Motorola One Hyper launched last year.

Motorola has priced the latest launch quite aggressively in India and as such it goes up against several heavyweights in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. The top two contenders of the latest Motorola launch are the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and POCO X2. If you are wondering which of these smartphones is the best value for money, you are in the right place. Here’s a detailed comparison between all three models.

Speaking of the Motorola offering first, the brand launched the One Fusion Plus in India in a single configuration with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 16,999 and will go on sale in India starting June 24th on Flipkart.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is available in three variants – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB, priced at Rs 16,499, Rs 17,999 and Rs 19,999, respectively. The company is selling the device through flash sales on Amazon and mi.com.

Lastly, the POCO X2 is priced at Rs 17,499, Rs 18,499 and Rs 20,999 for the 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants, respectively. The POCO X2 is available from Flipkart but is currently out of stock.

Clearly, the Motorola One Fusion Plus is the cheapest of the lot here.

All three smartphones feature an IPS LCD panel with Full HD+ screen resolution. While the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and POCO X2 come with a punch-hole display, the Motorola One Fusion Plus has a true edge-to-edge panel thanks to the elevating selfie camera module.

The Motorola One Fusion Plus hips with a 6.5-inch edge-to-edge display with HDR10 support. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has what the brand is calling dot notch display with centred punch-hole cutout. The screen measures 6.67-inches and is protected by a layer of triple Gorilla Glass 5 on the top.

Lastly, the POCO X2 features an identical display size as Redmi Note 9 Pro Max but is a “Reality Flow” display flaunting 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, the POCO offering is the most affordable in India to feature a high refresh rate of 120Hz and thus comes out on the top here.

Coming to the performance, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max missed by a beat as it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G. The Motorola One Fusion Plus and POCO X2 are powered by the Snapdragon 730G, which is pretty much on par with the 720G in terms of performance. Both processors use the Adreno 618 GPU, which means the graphics performance is similar as well.

The Motorola One Fusion Plus comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max offers up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. The POCO X2, on the other hand, offers up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The POCO and Redmi offerings allow users to expand storage up to 512GB using a microSD card. The Motorola One Fusion Plus goes one up and comes with support for up to 1TB microSD card.

The Motorola One Fusion Plus comes with stock Android 10. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and POCO X2 also feature Android 10, but with MIUI 11 on top.

The POCO X2 is the clear winner here, offering the highest configuration variant. However, the Motorola One Fusion Plus offers a stock Android interface, which might appeal to more users.

The Motorola One Fusion Plus, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and POCO X2 are all equipped with quad-camera modules on the back with a 64MP primary sensor. The Motorola One Fusion Plus and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max have identical setup with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth camera backing the primary lens. The POCO X2 also gets the same ultra-wide and depth sensor but with a 2MP macro lens.

On the selfie front, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max emerges on top with a 32MP snapper on the front. However, the POCO X2 gets a dual setup with a 20MP primary lens backed by a 2MP depth sensor. Lastly, the Motorola One Fusion Plus features a single 16MP elevating selfie camera.

The Motorola One Fusion Plus features a beefy 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W TurboPower fast charging. The POCO X2, on the other hand, features a smaller 4,500mAh battery but with support for 27W fast charging and comes with a bundled fast charger.

As is evident by now, the competition is serious between the three devices.
