After Apple had introduced the iPhone X with notched display design in September last year, various smartphones have launched new phones with similar design. By announcing the Motorola P30 with notched screen through an unveil event in China yesterday, it has also adopted the iPhone X like design. The same launch event was used to announce Motorola Z3 and E5 Plus smartphones in China.
Motorola P30 Specifications and Features
Measuring 155.5 x 75.95 x 7.69mm, the Motorola P30 houses 6.2-inch LTPS IPS LCD display. Because of the wide notch, the display produces an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and Full HD+ resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. The handset weighs 170 grams. The fingerprint that is embedded in the company’s logo located on the backside of the device. The front and rear sides of the Motorola P30 feature 2.5D curved glass.
The Snapdragon 636 that includes an octa-ore processor that clocks at 1.8 GHz. The 64 GB and 128 GB storage models of the Motorola P30 feature 6 GB of RAM. Users can make use of the hybrid SIM slot for adding a microSD card on the device. There is a 3,000mAh battery inside the phone which supports 18W fast charging technology by Motorola. It comes preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo and ZUI 4.0 custom ROM. The Motorola P30 is one of the handsets from the company that is confirmed to receive the Android 9 Pie OS update.
The dual camera setup of the Motorola P30 includes 16-megapixel OV16B primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 5-megapixel OV5765 secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. For shooting selfies, it is fitted with f/2.0 aperture 12-megapixel front camera. The Motorola P30 is equipped with several other features such as face unlock, Dolby audio, game mode, dual-SIM support through hybrid SIM slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi.802.11 b/g/n/ac, v5.0 Bluetooth LE (Low Energy), USB Type-C, GPS and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Motorola P30 Pricing and Availability
The 64 GB and 128 GB edition of the Motorola P30 respectively cost 1,299 Yuan (~Rs. 13,800) and 1,699 Yuan (~Rs. 17,300). The 64 GB P30 phone can be bought in colors like Ice Jade White and Bright Black whereas the 128 GB model comes in color gradient Aurora and Ice Jade White.
Since the smartphone is “designed for China,” the Lenovo owned company may not launch this phone in the international markets. If it arrives in markets outside of China, it may be sold as Moto P30. Moreover, the company is also rumored to be working on the launch of other P-series smartphones such as P30 Note and P30 Play. As of this writing, there is no information on the launch date of these phones.
