Motorola Penang 5G render, key specifications leaked, launch could be imminent

Motorola Penang 5G phone is expected to debut soon. Penang, which is based on Malaysia’s Penang state, is the codename of the device and not the actual marketing name. Reputed tipster Evan Blass has collaborated with the publication GadgetGang to share information about the Penang 5G. The leak also includes an image of the phone, which showcases its front and rear designs.

The report states that the Penang 4G and the Penang+ are the other variants of the phone. However, it is not necessary that the Penang 5G, Penang 4G, and Penang+ end up in the same lineup. According to the report, the Penang 5G with the XT-2313 model number is headed to the North American markets. It will be available through carriers, such as Cricket, Dish, and Tracfone.

The Penang 5G will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of storage. Shown above is the Basalt Blue edition of the phone. It will also come in an Opal Silver colour. As far as design is concerned, the device can be seen with a punch-hole display and a large chin on the front, and an LED flash assisted dual-camera setup on the back.

At present, there is no word on the launch timeframe for the device. The leak has no information about Penang 4G and Penang+ handsets.

Moto X40 coming soon

In related news, Motorola has started teasing the Moto X40 in China. The device is expected to come equipped with a 144Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, up to 512GB of storage, Android 13 OS, 50-megapixel triple rear cameras, a 60-megapixel front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging.
