In November, Motorola had launched the Motorola Razr 2019 foldable smartphone. What set that Motorola apart from the other foldable phones such as Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X was it had arrived as a clamshell design. At the unveil event, Motorola had confirmed that the Motorola Razr 2019 will be up for pre-orders from December 26th in North America and it will be releasing in the market on January 9th. Now an official statement from the company has revealed that the Motorola Razr 2019 foldable phone’s release date has been delayed. The Lenovo-owned company has claimed that it has encountered supply issues due to high demand for the Razr 2019.
On December 20th, Lenovo Group’s official statement released an official statement that read, “Motorola has decided to adjust Razr’s presale and launch timing to better meet consumer demand,” It further stated that, “We are working to determine the appropriate quantity and schedule to ensure that more consumers have access to Razr at launch.”
Motorola President Sergio Buniac had claimed earlier this year that the company was expecting the Razr 2019 to receive “a little bit more” demand than supply. Samsung and Huawei had also delayed the release of their foldable phones. Both companies had encountered display related issues because of which they had delayed the market release of their foldable smartphones by a few months. The official statement from Motorola does not state any technical problems as the reason for the delayed arrival of Razr 2019. The company is yet to confirm on a new release date for its first foldable phone.
