Gionee introduced the A1 and the A1 Plus as its first smartphones in the A series at MWC 2017. Battery Life and Selfies seem to be the crux of the new series as it sports the tagline, “Super Selfie, Super Battery”. The first launches from Gionee at the MWC are expected to hit the market in March 2017.
The Gionee A1 is the smaller among the two phones and has a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The MediaTek Helio P10 processor powers this smartphone along with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage that is further expandable via a MicroSD card. The A1 features a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus at the back.
The smartphone houses a 4010mAh battery with support for fast charging from the new 18W chargers that ship in the box. In terms of connectivity, the dual SIM phone has Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. The Gionee A1 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo UI on top.
Gionee A1 Plus
The Gionee A1 Plus is a big smartphone that rocks a 6-inch full HD display. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset and has 4GB of RAM. The A1 Plus houses a 20-megapixel camera at the front and a 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup on the back. There is 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 256GB via MicroSD card.
The bigger phone also packs in a much bigger 4550mAh battery. The 4G enabled dual SIM device has Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and GPS for connectivity. The A1 Plus also runs on Android Nougat and has Gionee’s Amigo UI on top.
Both the Gionee A1 and the A1 Plus sport a fingerprint scanner on the front along with a 2.5D glass. The A1 will be available in Gray, Black and Gold colours for a price of $369 (~Rs. 24,600). The A1 Plus, on the other hand, will be available in Mocha Gold and Gray for a price of $527 (~Rs. 35,000).
