OPPO was one of the first OEMs to announce a 5G handset and it did that with the Reno 5G in April 2019. However, considering the 5G era has kicked off in China and there’s at least one more OPPO 5G phone in the pipeline. According to a China Compulsory Certification (CCC), this handset’s model number is OPPO PCKM70 which is new while the Reno 5G which is the only other 5G handset from OPPO comes with CPH1921 model number.
The CCC certification also reveals the charger of the handset with an output of 5.0VDC – 4A. This means the handset could have VOOC 3.0 which also has 20W charging speeds. Other than that, this is completely a new model and OPPO has not officially revealed any plans for a second 5G handset of our notice. Vivo is also working on two 5G handsets and these two models could launch as early as next month. Since this is a 5G handset, we expect it to be at least a premium mid-ranger as 5G doesn’t come cheap even in China right now. OPPO already has a ton of Reno models on shelves but the brand’s VP Brian Shen has confirmed that there will be two more Reno models coming this year itself. Also, it has been confirmed today that OPPO will be launching the Reno 2 with 20X Zoom in India and China soon. It’s very much possible that this is a 5G variant of that phone.
Chinese manufacturers like OPPO will be at the forefront of the 5G revolution in China and with more model launches, 5G smartphones will soon be affordable for the Chinese masses. Stay tuned for more information regarding this model as we expect it to pay a visit to TENAA soon.
