The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has confined everyone to their homes and maintain social distancing. This has also led to a surge in demand for OTT streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar etc. Now, Netflix has rolled out a bunch of parental controls for its users. The new feature is aimed at making the content kids-specific. Netflix, Kids Product Manager, Michelle Parsons said in a statement, “Choice and control have always been important for our members, especially parents. We hope that these improved controls will help parents make the right choices for their families.” Users can access the new settings by going to the account settings on desktop and mobile browser.
Netflix users can now lock their individual profiles by setting a four-digit PIN to prevent kids from accessing them. The streaming platform offers up to five user profiles including a primary account and a default Kids profile. Netflix also lets parents decide what their kids should be watching on the streaming platform. They can filter out titles that are not appropriate for the kids based on their age. Users can also remove individual series or films by title for particular profiles. The removed titles will not show up anywhere on the profile. There is also access to complete viewing history of every profile, letting parents keep tabs on what their kids have been watching. Parents can also turn off autoplay in kid’s profiles to limit their screen time and binge-watching.
