Update (November 6, 2019): The device has now appeared on the TENAA website as well, along with images and key specifications. Turns out the A2222 is actually just an iPhone 11 variant for the Chinese market and not the iPhone SE successor.
After the iPhone SE 2 looked to be cancelled, new reports of an iPhone SE 2 have resurfaced by the end of 2019. And we’ve spotted a new mysterious Apple device with model number A2222 on the CCC portal this morning which will once again fan those flames. This model was earlier hinted to be a prototype model of a cheap iPhone by Ishan Agarwal among others such as A2221 and A2275 that landed in India. According to Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple is readying the iPhone SE 2 for a launch next year.
Coming to this new Apple A2222 model, its model number is close to the iPhone 11 which has A2221, A2111, A2223 identifiers. What’s even more interesting is the charger which is 5W while all new iPhone 11 models come with 18W chargers. The 5W charger comes with Apple A1443 model number but what’s interesting is its 5W capacity. Since, new Apple devices come with 18W capacity, it’s very much possible that this new charger belongs to a smaller device which could be the iPhone SE 2. The prototype phones mentioned earlier cost $300-400.
Based on current information, the iPhone SE 2 is believed to have a 4.7-inch LCD display while other vital internals such as the CPU is expected to be similar to current-gen iPhones. As far as design goes, it is expected to be similar to the iPhone 8 but will bear a smaller physical footprint. It will reportedly still sport a home button, a single rear camera, 3GB of RAM along with 64GB/128GB of storage and LG’s LCD panels.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the Apple iPhone SE 2 is on course for official launch in March-end next year while mass production should start as early as January.
