All new Moto Mods with better functionality unveiled

Motorola, the Lenovo-owned company makes both top-notch mobile devices and accessories alike. OEMs have been experimenting with making their phones modular for a couple of years now.  About this time last year, Motorola introduced the Moto Mods in an attempt to enhance their phones’ functionality by making them partially modular. The mods launched in 2016 provided different additions to the device, however, these mods were and still are exclusively compatible with the Moto Z.

It’s been over a year since the Moto Z and the Moto Mods were launched and today, a new set of Moto Mods have finally been unveiled.

Now add more juice, instantly – Moto TurboPower Pack

The new mod from Motorola, the Moto TurboPower Pack snaps on your Moto Z series device and adds more power to your device, instantly. The snap-on mod has a battery capacity of 3490mAh which adds to the existing battery capacity. The mod first charges your phone at 15W till it reaches the brim and then maintains the reserve. Motorola claims that the mod can charge the phone up to 50% in 20 minutes. The battery mod also charges exceptionally quickly at 30W when connected to a power outlet.

Turn up the music – JBL SoundBoost 2

After the success of the JBL SoundBoost mod launched last year, JBL has returned with its second iteration to this mod. The JBL SoundBoost 2 is an easy snap-on speaker system that amplifies the phone’s audio magnitude instantly and yet maintaining clarity, thanks to the tech from JBL. The mod does not require any pairing to the device and instead starts playing audio instantly once snapped on. The accessory also doesn’t prove heavy on your phone as it packs a battery inside it that can withstand music playback for 10 hours.

Game on – Moto GamePad

The Moto Z Series just got more gamer-friendly by the introduction of the Moto Gamepad. Long gaming hours and sore fingers? No more. The Gamepad mod enhances mobile gaming ergonomics by providing a complete physical gamepad that can be attached with a snap – no wires or pairing required. The Gamepad also packs in a 1035 mAh battery to add some more juice to keep you indulged in that favourite game of yours for a little longer.

Reduce the wire clutter, in your own way – Moto Style Shell

The Moto Style Shell mods from last year have now received a connectivity update. The new Style Shell mods increase the versatility of the devices by making them wireless charging compatible. The mod adds both, a style quotient and provides a wireless charge receiver. They will be available in a variety of designs to choose from, including Ebony Burl Wood, Grey Herringbone Nylon, Cateye Wood, and Floral Print. Weighing in at just under 50g, they add no extra bulk and are a super productive addition.

In addition to these splendid Mods, Motorola has also opened a developer program wherein anyone can pitch in their ideas and develop their own mod. This is a step in the right direction as it opens the floodgates to ideas from all over the world. Developers, be it an individual, a team of enthusiasts or a manufacturing company can all compete on the same level in making a truly modular Motorola phone.
