Entertainment today is available on-demand, just at a click, so much so that one can plan a calendar that helps them stay updated with their favourite releases.

House of the Dragon| Disney+ Hotstar | August 22 | English

The much-anticipated show, House of the Dragon, released on Disney+ Hotstar on August 22. During the trailer launch, the media house took to YouTube to share the release information and mentioned, “All the dragons roar as one,” which set the premise for the show. Touted to be the prequel to the highly popular show, Game of Thrones, this new web series, House of the Dragon, is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” and is set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones. The show revolves around the story of House Targaryen and their reign.

Catering to fans’ excitement, HBO also released a special guide for the House of the Dragon, which shares all the details about the cast, characters, episodes, maps, dragon index, etc. One can also download the House of the Dragon app for an interactive experience. Initial response to the Disney+ Hotstar release ‘House of Dragons’ is positive, and reviews state this to be one of the promising releases of this year.

 Please Find Attached S3 | Amazon Prime Video | August 24 | Hindi

After the success of the Please Find Attached Season 1 and 2, the makers (Dice Media) have brought out a new season of this much-loved show. Releasing this time on Amazon Prime Video as a part of the Mini TV showcase, Please Find Attached Season 3, starring Ayush Sharma, and Barkha Singh, will move ahead with Shaurya and Sanya’s decision to disclose their relationship as they are ready to spill the beans. However, hurdles and obstacles come their way as tension in the professional space arises, only to create doubt on if they will decide to wait it out even longer.

The simple story of two office colleagues deciding to become flatmates and eventually falling in love with each other found a sweet spot in the audience’s heart. Ayush and Barkha’s chemistry and portrayal of characters were also well-appreciated by the audience.

The finale episode of Please Find Attached Season 2 showed Sanya decides to move back to her room after her relationship with Shaurya takes a twist, making things worse for them, due to professional reasons. While she gets another chance to prove herself at work, her love life takes a turn, leaving them clueless about their way forward in the relationship. Please Find Attached Season 3 moves on from there with a new plot.

Top Gun Maverick – Aug 24 – Amazon Prime

Starring Tom Cruise, this action-packed film garnered an impressive response from its theatrical release in May 2022. Top Gun Maverick will be released on Amazon Prime Video on August 24, 2022. The film highlights the life of Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise), who, after over thirty years of service as the Navy’s top aviator, is back with a mission to be a courageous test pilot, knowing that this motive, after dodging the advancement in rank, would lead to consequences of him being grounded.

Facing an uncertain future, Maverick is confronted with his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Tom Gun Maverick is the sequel of this classic film which was released 35 years ago and kept the fans waiting for over three decades. The film was expected to release in 2019, however, makers of Top Gun Maverick pushed the same to 2020 and further to 2022, owing to postproduction reasons.

Fans can now enjoy watching Tom Cruise-led action entertainer Top Gun Maverick, on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the Paramount picture release also stars Jennifer Connelly and Miles Tell in pivotal roles.

Maharani S2 | Sony LIV | August 25 | Hindi

The new season of the SonyLIV original, Maharani, is all set to release on August 25, 2022. Starring Huma Qureshi, Amit Sial, Sohum Shah, Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, and many others, Maharani S2 will focus on Bheema Bharti’s life, once again, as he is outside of the Prison. As politics and personal drama fill her life, the makers will focus on if Bheema Bharti (Sohum Shah) is geared up to claim his power again and fight powerfully against Rani (Huma Qureshi). The Chief Minister’s chair will again be the target, and the story will focus on his tactics to mislead the public, defame her and more.

Repeat | Disney+ Hotstar | August 25 | Telugu

The trailer of the Disney+ Hotstar release, Repeat, was released as a ‘Novel’ crime-thriller. Starring Naveen Chandra, Madhubala, Achyuth Kumar, Smruthi Venkat, Mime Gopi, and others, this upcoming film, Repeat, is expected to release on August 25.

Written by Shiva Nirvana and Helmed by Aravindh Srinivasan, this Disney+ Hotstar release revolves around the kidnapped daughter of the DGP and the consequences he faced as the kidnappers refuse to reveal their identities. The search begins, and with passing minutes, this intriguing case becomes mysterious with time. Being narrated straight out of a novel, the writer explains every detail of the incident while focusing on nuances of the team and secret agent’s mission to find the missing daughter.  

Delhi Crime Season 2| Netflix | August 26 | Hindi

Delhi Crime, even today, is one of the most riveting shows on any Indian OTT platform. After all the appreciation received for the show’s first season, the makers of Delhi Crime announced the second season on Netflix. Starring the renowned Shefali Shah as DCP Vartika, the second season of Delhi Crime will revolve around an ominous gang and their deeds which create chaos and panic in India’s National Capital. The web series, this season, will focus on DCP Vartika and her squad, who are expected to save the city from the heinous crime.

Delhi Crime Season 2 releases on August 26 on Netflix India.

Criminal Justice – Adhura Sach | Disney+ Hotstar | August 26 | Hindi

The third season of Disney+ Hotstar’s superhit show, Criminal Justice, releases on August 26, 2022. With an impeccable cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka, and Mita Vashisht, this new season of the show, Criminal Justice 3, will focus on Madhav Mishra’s life surrounded by Murder, Motives, Opportunities, and Lies. Several challenges become a part of the case. However, it would be exciting to see if Madhav Mishra manages the case as expected.

Touted to be nail-biting drama, this season of Criminal Justice would showcase several lives and their gut-wrenching journeys. The show is based on the 2008 British television series of the same name and was first released on Disney+ Hotstar on April 5, 2019. Post the success, the makers announced the second season, Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, in 2020, and the third season thereafter. Criminal Justice for India has been written by Shridhar Raghavan and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia.

Samaritan | Amazon Prime Video | August 26 | English

Starring Sylvester Stallone in the titular role, Amazon Prime Video’s Samaritan highlights the life of a young boy. The boy realises that a popular superhero who was said to be missing for twenty-five years might still be around.

The trailer of the Amazon Prime Video release, Samaritan, has received a good response. Media reviews have mentioned the film to be packed with surprising twists and turns, emphasising Sylvester Stallone’s character, stating it to be entertaining and firm. Samaritan is expected to stream on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Odela Railway Station | Aha | Aug 26 | Telugu

Directed by Ashok Teja and starring Hebah Patel, Pujita Ponnada, Vasishta N Simha, and Sai Ronak, Aha’s upcoming release, Odela Railway Station, is a romantic thriller. It focuses on a daring man’s life who is adamant about changing some aspects and things straight that went wrong several years back. All of this is done with a motive to end his suffering. 

Odela Railway Station is a Telugu film produced by KK Radhamohan under the Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner.

Manchi Roju Choosi Cheptha | Aha | August 26 | Telugu

Another release on Aha’s Telugu platform, Manchi Roju Choosi Cheptha, directed by Arumuga Kumar P, is already expected to be an entertaining film. The fans are excited as the cast includes Vijay Sethupathi, Niharika Konidela, Gayathrie Shankar, Gautham Karthik, and Ramesh Thilak. Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in a different and never-seen-before character of Yaman, who visits a city and lives deep in the forest along with the tribal community and their distinctive rules. Yaman and his three men are caught for robbery, which the makers have shown as their traditional occupation. The men from the tribal village living in the forests of Nallamalla must find a way out of the trouble. Then, Yaman finds Soumiya and promises her that he will return to the forest with her.

Vijay Sethupathi fans have created the much-deserved buzz about Manchi Roju Choosi Cheptha, which is all set to release on Aha on August 26, 2022.

Petromax | Voot | August 26| Kannada

This Kannada release, Petromax, on Voot, is touted to be a romantic comedy revolving around four men who fall in love with the same woman. The lives of four orphans and their journey to find a woman older than them impressed the audience. Makers have used the name ‘Petromax’ metaphorically, symbolising light as one of the essential aspects of these orphans’ lives.

Written and directed by Vijaya Prasad, Petromax is produced by Sathish Ninasam and Vijaya Prasad under the Sathish Picture House banner. The film stars Sathish Ninasam, Hariprriya and Karunya Ram.

Reviews released during the release have mentioned Petromax to be a film showcasing family values and relationships, which wins hearts with wins with its dialogues, characters, and performances. The storyline also talks about certain aspects and relevant topics which, in today’s time, are essential.

Becoming Elizabeth | Lionsgate Play | Aug 26 | English

The drama series, Becoming Elizabeth, has an interesting storyline which orbits around the younger years of Queen Elizabeth I. She is an orphaned teenager who is pulled into the politics of the English court as a part of her journey to the coveted crown. Created by Anya Reiss, Becoming Elizabeth first premiered on Starz on June 12, 2022, and will now release on Lionsgate Play on August 26, 2022.

Starring Alicia von Rittberg, John Heffernan, and Oliver Zetterström, this eight-episode series focuses on the lead character Elizabeth Tudor. It is a period drama that the audience will enjoy.

Seoul Vibe | Netflix | Aug 26 | Korean

With an interesting message that read, “Hit the gas until you see the finish line. Drive back to 1988 in full swing. Buckle up as the Sanggye-dong Supreme Team speeds off on their supercharged mission. Feel the vibe,” Netflix, on August 11, 2022, released the trailer of the South Korean action thriller film Seoul Vibe.

Directed by Moon Hyun-sung, and starring Yoo Ah-in, Go Kyung-Pyo, Lee Kyu-Hyung, Park Ju-Hyun, Ong Seong-wu, Netflix’s upcoming release, SeoulVibe takes one to the midst of the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. A talented crew of baby drivers, Sangedong Supreme team, known for their car chase on the streets of Seoul, become a part of the corruption behind the slush funds. Upon learning the same, they attempt to tackle the criminal operations, thereby saving the coveted Olympic event from being jeopardised.
