New teaser offers more glimpses of the Mahindra XUV 400 EV

  • Mahindra will officially reveal the XUV 400 EV this Thursday
  • The EV has already appeared on multiple teasers and leaks
  • Mahindra’s new electric SUV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV

The Mahindra XUV 400 electric SUV has been teased previously, while leaks dating back a few months have given us tidbits of information along the way. With the EV’s launch scheduled for September 8, the company is now offering another small glimpse at the automobile, decked in Electric Blue.

The video posted on YouTube also showcases the front grille along with the new Mahindra logo. In keeping with its premium appeal, the EV will also include LED-based daytime running lamps (DRL). The video doesn’t showcase the interiors of the XUV 400 EV, which is understandable given that the company would want to keep some mystery intact for the big reveal on Thursday.

Based on what we’ve learned so far, the Mahindra XUV 400 will be available in two battery options. Mahindra has managed to keep the EV’s range a secret, but it could be similar to the massively popular Tata Nexon EV. Consumers can also expect the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a touchscreen-based in-car infotainment system.

Could the Mahindra XUV 400 EV dent the Nexon EV’s dominance?

Tata Motors has the advantage of being the only major auto manufacturer in the country to offer a relatively inexpensive electric car. However, Mahindra’s entry in the segment could shake things up a little, at least initially.

But considering the Nexon EV’s substantial market share, the task won’t be easy for Mahindra’s latest EV. The company is also planning to launch five additional EVs based on the newly unveiled INGLO platform. However, the first of these five EVs won’t arrive until late 2024.
